Is World War Z Getting Video Game Treatment?

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Jason Bassett

It appears the movie World War Z will be getting the video game treatment. A trademark was registered by Paramount Pictures with emphasis on the electronic games industry. You can view the trademarks here and here.

The trademark specifies that the goods and services will be: “electronic games”, “electronic downloadable games”, and ““electronic game software for handheld electronic devices, video game cartridges and discs.” These trademarks were filed on the 10th of July. However, plans for the movie have not gone smoothly as the movie was halted in production and are still on shaky ground. This move by Paramount is mostly protection play as they do not want these trademarks being filed by other companies and people.

Originally released as a book in 2006, World War Z has been filming for well over 5 years now and there doesn’t seem to be a time table for a release.

New World of Warplanes Dev Diary Released

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Wargaming.net has released the fourth developer’s diary for their upcoming free-to-play aerial combat game World of Warplanes. This diary focuses on the game’s control schemes: keyboard, keyboard and mouse, gamepad, and joystick. The developers promise that while “every control option comes with its own unique style and feel,” none will “grant you any in-combat advantage.” Certainly, an individual’s skill will play a great role, but we here at Broken Joysticks, after rigorous and totally unbiased testing, have come to the conclusion that joysticks are inherently superior.

You may watch the developer’s diary after the jump, but beware! It is in Byelorussian, so you’ll have to read subtitles.Read More

Legends of Pegasus X’or Race Trailer Released

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Kalypso released a new trailer for their upcoming 4X strategy game Legends of Pegasus. This trailer showcases the X’or faction, an isolationist race of sentient machines. While the trailer focuses mostly on story, there is a little bit of gameplay footage thrown in, as well as the interesting tidbit that the X’or can colonize planets that would be totally inhospitable to other races. Long live the glorious empire of emotionless machines doing science on dead asteroids and planets with toxic fumes, unbearable pressure, extreme temperatures, and giant worms that rely on psychic attacks to pwn humans.

My hope is that Legends of Pegasus won’t include a highly intelligent race of unstoppable synthetics that will stop by every planet and kill all organics to protect them from a war with the X’or. Wouldn’t that be a stupid idea?

Battlefield 4 Confirmed In New MOH: Warfighter Trailer

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Battlefield 4 is indeed a real game, as the end of the most recent Medal of Honor: Warfighter trailer confirms speculation from this weekend The trailer is a developer diary covering all of the basics including the multiplayer, weapons and more straight from the guys behind the game.

At the end of the trailer is the above image stating “Pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition for Access To The Battlefield 4 Beta”

Presumably Battlefield 4 would be slotted for a 2014 release. Considering the inclusion of the Beta in the MOH: Warfighter Limited Edition we can infer that some version of BF 4 will be coming to current consoles, although such a game would certainly shine on next-gen hardware.

Check out the trailer below.

Hideo Kojima Sorry To Fans About MGS5 Hoax

Posted on July 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Fans and blogs alike where alight with news that the logo for Hideo Kojima’s next project Metal Gear Solid 5 had been shown at the San Diego Comic Con. Konami was quick to squash these rumors, and considering that fact that the only source of the rumor was a blurred, camera-phone-esque, image of the supposed logo it’s just as well that it is fake.

As he usually does, Kojima-San addressed his fans , more specifically those who may have fallen for the fake logo, saying:

“That title logo is completely fake. Apologies to those who were looking forward to this.”

Beyond confirmation of the existence of MGS5 and several demos of the next-generation Fox Engine little is known of the project. If MGS4’s development cycle is anything like 5, then we will probably see some form of reveal next year prior to the PlayStation 4/Orbis’ launch.
