Posted on May 28, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

The world of The Sims 4 is about to get a lot more dynamic with the announcement of The Sims 4: Seasons, due out on June 22nd.

The Sims 4: Seasons will add the four seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter to Electronic Art’s latest “people simulator” complete with new features like Holidays and even a count-down clock that will allow your sims to countdown until the next big celebration. Outfits available to sims will also change depending on the season – in the Winter they’ll bundle up tight in layers upon layers while in the Spring they might put on a yellow rain jacket and rubber boots. Players will also be able to create their own holidays in addition to the existing Winterfest (Christmas), Harvestfest (Halloween), Love Day (Valentine’s Day)/

Also included in The Sims 4: Seasons is a brand new career path – The Gardener. By taking on the Gardening career path sims will be able to analyze different types of plants, make groundbreaking discoveries, deliver flower arrangements around town and curate their own special arrangements as well.

Speaking about the new dynamic weather system, Grant Rodiek, a producer on The Sims 4 had this to say:

“With a vast variety of weather elements that empower the ways players can play with life, The Sims 4 Seasons will allow players to use their Sims to tell relatable stories like those they’ve experienced in real life. The ever-changing weather will transform worlds in unique ways by impacting gameplay choices, Sim’s relationships, and Sim’s daily life, while also delivering new challenges,”

Included below are 3 screenshots provided by EA as well as the official trailer. According to the The Sims 4 website, Seasons has an MSRP of $49.99 CDN.

New gameplay footage from Bioware’s next space RPG adventure Mass Effect Andromeda will be shown at Nvidia’s Consumer Electronics Show keynote event on January 4th. The confirmation of a brand new gameplay trailer, which will reportedly focus on in-game environments, comes via the official Mass Effect Twitter account.

Here is the tweet that confirmed the brand new gameplay segment to be shown during CES:

Here is Nvidia’s official description of their upcoming keynote which will also be live-streamed:

We’ve known about the existence of Mass Effect: Andromeda for quite a while – with first word of the project coming over four years ago on “N7 Day” back in 2012. Since then EA & Bioware have been quite open about the development of the game, showcasing early engine technology and animation reels at E3 2014 before officially unveiling the game’s title at last year’s E3. More recently they released the first gameplay trailer from Andromeda, which you can watch below.

Mass Effect Andromeda is expected to be on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and Windows PC Via Origin.

Star Wars Battlefront: Death Star DLC Details

Posted on August 7, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Last year’s Star Wars Battlefront reboot will receive its third add-on DLC in just a few weeks. We’ve known for a while that players would be taking to the lower orbit  above the Death Star to fight alongside Luke or Vader and now we’ve got some more details about $14.99 DLC – which two new heroic units will be joining, two of the  new vehicles and a brand new mechanics for the Death Star’s included maps.

Players will build up a separate experience level tied to the individual maps, based upon the level earned your objectives will change. In example: a player with low experience may fight above the Death Star while a more experienced pilot may take on the icon Trench Run from A New Hope.

Here’s the lowdown on the confirmed features for the Death Star expansion:

New Heroes
Light Side: Chewbacca
Dark Side: Bossk

New Vehicles
Darth Vader’s Advanced Tie Fighter
Luke’s Episode IV Red 5 X-Wing

New Map Mechanics
Dynamic map objectives based upon unique map-based experience

No specific launch date for the Death Star expansion has been confirmed yet, however it is expected to be launched either in late August or early September for Season’s Pass holders. It will be released two weeks later for everyone else on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and EA Origin for Windows PC.

EA Teases Battlefront Announcement For Tomorrow

Posted on January 26, 2016 by Kirk Williford

It looks like Star Wars: Battlefront fans will be receiving some much-welcomed news tomorrow, if a post on the official Battlefront Twitter account is to be believed.

Although not much detail was given aside from a mysterious tweet that read “Prepare for a cold front coming through #StarWarsBattlefront tomorrow… “, a recent community event held by DICE challenged players to play over 500,000 hours as both Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The community shattered that goal, and with that accomplishment came the suggestion to “look to Hoth to show the fruits of your labor once the January update has been released.”

Given the hint of a cold front in the Tweet, it’s likely that the news coming tomorrow could be directly related to the reward for the community event. DICE has promised more free content in addition to the Force Awakens tie-in Battle of Jakku as well as content coming in the paid Season Pass. Whatever is announced tomorrow, we’re excited to get back into Battlefront with some new toys.

Origin Launches Holiday Sale – Includes Several Huge Games

Posted on December 18, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

With just seven days until Christmas Day it is no surprise that publishers are rolling out some great deals on some of this year’s hottest games as well as excellent releases from years past. Electronic Art’s Origin service pulls the trigger on this year’s sale ahead of competitor Valve. They’re not only offering some fantastic prices on some of our favorite games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and the entire Mass Effect trilogy but also the lowest price I’ve ever seen for Battlefront, and that game is only a month old.

The hype for The Force Awakens is very real and with that film being officially released today I’m sure Star Wars: The Old Republic will experience an influx of some fresh players. Despite the game going the dreaded free-to-play route several years ago it still provides an excellent Lvl 1 – 50 experience for free to all players. If you’re an MMO player I would heavily consider the Old Republic bundle available on Origin during the holiday sale: You gain access to all 3 paid expansions, 60 days of game time and a whole bunch of Cash Shop credits for the price of two months’ subscription time. Maybe it’s time to pick the light saber back up!

Here’s a full list of deals:

Deals on Full Games

  • Star Wars: Battlefront – $39.99 USD
  • The Sims 4 Standard – $19.99 USD

Community Created Battlefield 4 Map Deployed

Posted on October 28, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

I’m sure of one thing – that the Battlefield community certainly is passionate about one of their favorite games, Battlefield 4. Developers at DICE LA have been working with the community for the past six months on a brand new map called Operation Outbreak which has now been released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC for free!

How did the developers work with the community? By collecting feedback through various community forums, official polls, social media and other outlets to help shape every aspect of this map. Through what EA calls the Community Test Environment players were able to preview the map while in development.

The end result is the final infantry focused jungle map which EA has made the focus of a brand new trailer released through YouTube.

Star Wars Battlefront Open Beta Begins Next Week

Posted on September 28, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

I’ve been eagerly awaiting for my chances to check out EA’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront reboot since it was announced over two years ago at E3 2013. As a lifelong Star Wars fan it’s always my hope that the next playable Star Wars experience will bring me one step closer to channeling the force. Now we’ll all get our chance to see if EA & DICE will make this dream become reality with the Star Wars Battlefront Open Beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC next weekend – October 8th thru the 12th.

The open beta is meant to stress-test the game’s multiplayer servers ahead of the game’s November release date and includes a lot of the content that was present in the E3 2015 build of the game. That is to say a 40 person VS match set on the iconic ice planet Hoth as well as a co-op survival mode.  Making its playable debut in the Open Beta is the brand new Drop Zone mode.

Here’s a quick run-down for all of the open Beta’s content:

Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-AT’s by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.

Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.

Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers, and more.

The game’s companion app will also be available on iOS and Android and allows you to earn credits via a special “Base Command” mini-game which can be used to purchase new gear in Battlefront.

We’ll have more on Star Wars Battlefront ahead of its November 17th release.

EA Launches ‘Origin Gamer’s Appreciation Sale’

Posted on March 19, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

EA wants to show you, the gamer, that they love you, buy offering you heavily discounted PC / Xbox 360/ PS3 titles for the next week. Over 200 titles are discounted up to 70% off including some big names from last year.

Some of the noteworthy deals include Battlefield 3 Premium for $24.99, Crysis 3 for $29.99, Mass Effect 3 for $9.99 and Hitman Absolution for $15.00. They’re also throwing in free shopping on physical item orders over $25. I couldn’t possibly list all of the games here, so check out the Origin Store Front for all of the deals.

Will this be enough to sway users to Origin after the disastrous launch of Sim City? I’m sure that EA will be a huge influx of cash from these deals, and Crysis 3’s inclusion is surprising considering the game came out only a few weeks ago. Although players who purchased Sim City and then were offered free copies of Battlefield 3, among other games, must be pissed off that the company is discounting the games used as an apology– effectively tarnishing it.

EA Admits to Poor Origin Communication

Posted on May 3, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Origin, Electronic Art’s digital distribution platform that has been around for just over a year now has turned to its user base to help get some corners smoothed out. EA, admitting they could have done a better job in “communicating what’s available” is hoping to improve this by asking its 9.3 million registered users for some feedback on the issue.

Despite the $100 million Origin generated in 2011, and which continues to grow with the addition of new publishing partners, they still want to make Origin more user friendly and is confident that it’s user base will be able to express their concerns so that they may be able to make the platform more streamlined.

Continuing The Origin Conversation currently has 900 comments with many users hoping for a more streamline front page, less hassle with accounts and DRM, as well as little requests such as an overlay clock are common requests. EA will be hosting a live Q&A session with product manager Mike Lewis and creative director Robert Kissinger, in which they intend to address as many of these problems as possible. This session will be held on May 8th at 10:00AM PDT.
