Black Ops III Officially Unveiled

Posted on April 27, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Yesterday Activision and Treyarch took the wraps off of Call of Duty: Black Ops III with a reveal trailer that has amassed over 6 million views on YouTube in the past 24 hrs! Activision has also revealed that the game will be released on November 6th 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

In terms of game modes Black Ops III’s campaign mode can not only be played alone but also co-operatively with up to three friends with the new 4 player Co-Op campaign feature. Fans expecting the popular Zombies mode, which Treyarch pioneered with the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, can rest assured that the mode will be making a return. Activision mentioned that the Zombies mode will actually have its own progression system separate from the one used in the multiplayer mode.

In the world of Black Ops III a new type of bio-engineered super solider is being developed thanks to technologies like the Direct Neural Interface (DNI). Hopefully the game will try to tackle some of the less military focused questions that the teaser trailer brought up in regards to what rapid technological advancement could mean for the human race.Read More

Black Ops III “Embers” Teaser Asks How Far Can Technology Take Us?

Posted on April 23, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

With only 3 days left until the official reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops III Activision Publishing Inc has released a brand new three minute trailer for their upcoming title. Beginning with a montage of technological achievements from the last fifty years such as the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2000 and the rise of wearable computers this decade the trailer, titled “embers”, quickly heads down a very speculative path.

What would happen if organ replacements became an option for only the rich and famous? How would athletics handle the introduction of augmented humans into competitions? What would happen if the military were using augmentation technologies to build the perfect super soldier?

Honestly this trailer gives me some hope that Treyarch are ready to explore some of the societal questions they’ve raised in their pre-reveal campaign. In all honesty this three minute trailer raises questions about technological advancement a lot better than Square-Enix did with their three day long #CantStopProgress marketing event a few weeks ago for the new Deus Ex. It was also kind of amusing that Activision decided to use an Edward Snowden lookalike in their latest trailer as well.

The world reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops III  is scheduled for this coming Sunday, April 26th!

Black Ops III Full Reveal Coming April 26th

Posted on April 9, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision sent out a cryptic press release this morning that simply linking to a YouTube video with the hashtag #BackInBlack. Anyone who is familiar with the Call of Duty franchise will recognize the stylized “III” up in the header of this article as being very similar to the font used to promote Call of Duty: Black Ops II. We’ll find out what the pair of companies has planned when the game’s world reveal takes center stage on April 26!

It is important to note that Activision also partnered with popular Advanced Warfare YouTuber TmarTn for this reveal. Perhaps we will get more small glimpses of the game on his channel before the big reveal.

Earlier in the year there were a number of rumors that the next Call of Duty game would take place during World War 2. Perhaps Black Ops III will have us hoping between the near future and the battles of the Second World War?

More as it develops…

COD: Advanced Warfare Havoc DLC Slams Down on PS3 / PS4

Posted on March 1, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Gamers on either of Sony’s home consoles can now enjoy the Havoc DLC for Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare the publisher announced today. This first DLC expansion adds four new multiplayer maps, a brand new energy weapon called the “AE4 direct energy assault rifle” and the return of the popular zombie’s mini-game with the addition of the “EXO Zombies” mode.

EXO Zombies mode has its own story separate from the main campaign. It featured a celebrity voice cast including Bill Paxton, John Malkovich, Rose McGowan and Jon Bernthall.  So grab three of your friends and prepare to experience this awesome sounding multiplayer mode. The Call of Duty games always seem to have some interesting cameos with their DLC – Black Ops original Zombies mode featuring J.F.K is probably the most memorable for me.Read More

Call of Duty Leading Next Gen Sales

Posted on November 20, 2013 by Jason Nason

With only two more days to go until the launch of the Xbox One, Call of Duty: Ghosts is already emerging as the leading next generation title at retail. Following the release of the new PlayStation 4 in North America on Friday, Call of Duty: Ghosts has quickly become the No. 1 selling title in retail sales on the new platform, as well as the No. 1 pre-reserved Xbox One title, at retailers Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart in North America.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts is the No. 1 best-selling game on PS4 in North America at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart, and also the No. 1 pre-ordered Xbox One title in North America at those retailers for launch,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We couldn’t be more excited about the consumer response as we look forward to this Friday’s release of Xbox One. As we’ve said before, it’s a great time to be a gamer, and a great time for Call of Duty fans.”

Call of Duty: Ghosts Spotted In Multiple Retail Advertisements

Posted on April 24, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Call of Duty Ghosts seemed to vanish from the rumor mill for the last few weeks, but all of that has changed with multiple retailers mentioning the game in new advertisements. Both the U.S based Target and U.K based Tesmo featured the game predominately in their latest fliers. We’ve learned that the game could be released on November 5th with a suggested retail price of $59.99.

Supposedly Call of Duty Ghosts will take place in a near future society that is forced to use modern weapons due to some kind of catastrophe. Apparently the game may also make modifications to player movement and cover mechanics, allowing players to blind fire from behind cover for example.

None of this is official but as soon as we know more, we will let you know. Traditionally annual Call of Duty offerings are revealed during the month of May, so our first glimpse at the game can’t be too far away.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II | Review

Posted on November 21, 2012 by Jason Fayta

Version tested: Xbox 360

It’s that time of year again. The days are becoming darker; your wallet is getting lighter, and your waist is growing larger. To curb these seasonal blues, Activision is here with Call of Duty: Black Ops II (hereafter Black Ops 2), the ninth entry in the series and the fourth developed by Treyarch. You may not remember there being nine Call of Duty games, and that’s because Activision is cognizant of the stigma sequelitis projects. After Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, they dropped the sequential numerical approach and adopted subtitles to differentiate installments. Besides, Call of Duty 9: Black Ops II sounds absurd, and cynical gamers may be less likely to demur Black Ops 2 as opposed to Call of Duty 9.Read More

You Got My Mass Effect 2 In Your Black Ops II!

Posted on November 13, 2012 by Seung Lee

Retail PC copies of the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops II come with second installation discs. That may seem perfectly normal, but these discs seem to contain data for BioWare’s Mass Effect 2. People everywhere, from Steam to Reddit, have been talking about this issue. There’s even a video on YouTube showcasing the huge blunder. PC players aren’t completely out of luck, however, because the game can still be installed (albeit, very slowly) with a Steam key that comes with each copy.

One has to wonder though–how, exactly, do you go about making such a careless mistake like this? Check out the YouTube video here (warning: there’s excessive profanity).

Minecraft Topples COD: Modern Warfare 3 For XBL Supremacy

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Xbox Live “most played” charts aren’t usually a site for heated competition between popular games but this week we have a new king in Mojang’s Minecraft. The Xbox Live version of the block building toppled Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 for the most players on Microsoft’s Online service. Certainly MineCraft is no longer the small indie title that it was back in 2009 but it is still amazing to see a game developed by a small team dethrone a juggernaut like COD.

Older titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Halo: Reach are still in the top but with new entries in both of those series, Black Ops II & Halo 4, surely they will move down in the ranks to make room for newer games.

Here’s the top 5 Xbox Live games for last week:

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
EA Sports FIFA Soccer 13
Call of Duty: Black Ops

MW2’s Favela Is Being Benched, Possibly Forever

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Seung Lee

If you’ve ever played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, then you’ll probably remember playing on Favela, a map based on the Brazilian shanty towns. But, if you hop on MW2 right now, you’ll notice that it’s no longer in the map rotation for any of the game modes. That’s because some upset Muslims have banded together to demand Infinity Ward and Activision, the companies behind MW2, to remove the map from the rotation.

It’s a shame because Favela was one of my favorite maps on the game, but instigating heated arguments here isn’t in my interest. Would it kill the people who patched the game to at least patch One Man Army or Danger Close, though? I’m sure a lot more people (including myself) would play MW2 again, if we knew we wouldn’t be blown up every five seconds.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II Multiplayer Playable at GamesCom

Posted on August 9, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Call of Duty fanatics will be able to test drive the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, a full three months ahead of release, at GamesCom 2012. If you’re going to the show, be sure to check out the game’s booth in 6 (Booth A21 and A31), for your chance to be the first in the world to earn a killstreak in Treyarch’s upcoming futuristic shooter. This booth will be available from August 15-18.

Black Ops II‘s multiplayer was unveiled earlier this week, with a two minute reveal trailer. If you’re like me, then you probably won’t be able to just magically teleport over to Germany. Not to worry, though, Activision and Microsoft have teamed up to stream footage from the booth over the three days that it’s open. The same footage will also be available on TwitchTV and the official Call of Duty website.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be released in the states on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on November 13th, 2012. Visit the game’s official website here.

Call of Duty Black Ops II Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

Posted on August 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

There is so much to dissect from the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops I trailer it’s insane. In just two minutes and seventeen seconds Activision shows us several weapons and tools of destructions. If you’re a fan of unmanned vehicles and gunships, there are tons of those. There are even a few up close and personal options I can’t wait to try like the stun-gun like proximity grenade shown at the begining of the trailer or the throwing knives shown at the end.

We’ll hopefully be able to dissect the entire trailer later on in the day. Until then check out the Multiplayer Reveal trailer below.

Blacks Ops II ships out on November 13th 2012.
