Wing Commander Retrospective

Posted on April 30, 2012 by Eric Bastelak

What can you say about the Wing Commander franchise? Besides the fact that it was one of the first space fighter simulation games ever, oh and in the sea of garbage that was FMV (full motion video) era of gaming, Wing Commander stood out. This was a diamond found amongst all the sewage. High billing actors like Mark Hamill and Malcom Mcdowell. I first heard about Wing Commander from a unique source. A fantastic V-loger Spoony, on his website The Spoony Experiment being a long time WC fan Spoony did a hilarious review of the painfully bad Wing Commander movie.

The Walking Dead | Review

Posted on April 27, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Telltale games has started up a new episodic game series, and as can always be expected – it’s pretty awesome. A prequel of the story in the hit TV show based on the hit comic book series, it’s The Walking Dead. There are five episodes to the Walking Dead, one will be coming out each month. If length is to be judged by the first episode then we will be looking at 3-4 hours each. Which is good value considering its $25 price tag or its 400 Microsoft point value per episode. The story follows protagonist Lee Everett and a

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Revealed

Posted on April 27, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Sony has stepped up to bat with their new Sony property fighting game PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. What this game is, is essentially taking characters from different Sony licenses and putting them together and having them fight each other, much like the popular Nintendo franchise that came before it. So far there have been six characters announced in this early version of the game. The six confirmed characters are: Kratos, Sly Cooper, Fat Princess, Sweet Tooth, Parappa the Rapper, and Mael Radec (Killzone). What makes this title different is in how you win. Where you need to strike the opposing players

The Great Google Zerg Rush

Posted on April 27, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Google has done it once more and has changed their mega-popular search engine into hours of potential fun. Today when you decide to Google search “zerg rush” on a whim you will be treated to just that. With a horde of tiny letters, the letter O to be exact coming and picking away at the health bar of all the search results. Of course these little “Googlings” have health too and you can combat them by clicking them to death. It gets pretty hectic, but for a simple Google Easter egg, it’s pretty fun if even for a couple minutes.

Rayman Legends Boasts Exclusive Wii-U Functionality

Posted on April 27, 2012 by Jesse Lord

First things first.  If you haven’t gotten your grubby mitts on Rayman Origins, spectacular game that it is, go do that.  Right now.  I’ll wait. Done?  Great.  Ok, so there has been a rumbling that Ubisoft is working on a follow-up to that refreshing platformer, and the news has broken by way of a leaked trailer for Rayman Legends, which you will see embedded below the jump.  This in and of itself is great news – unfortunately Rayman Origins, while generally critically–acclaimed across platforms, did not see spectacular sales and therefore the likelihood of a sequel seemed to be but

Posted on April 26, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Reportedly a couple of images were leaked onto the website of Hollywood special effects company Reel EFX. This is the company that is known for some ads you may recognize such as the Old Spice “I’m On A Horse”, and the Matthew Broderick Super Bowl ad for Honda. The pictures that have been leaked, that look like they were printed out and posted up, look like they may our first look at the next entry into the Call of Duty franchise, or at least it might be. Activision has been teasing the game with shots of a “quad-copter” which is

G4 and Adam Sessler Part Ways

Posted on April 26, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Longtime host of X-Play and Editor and Chief at G4 Media, Adam Sessler, has parted ways with the company according to his spokesperson. Sessler is arguably one of the most recognizable names and faces in the industry. Over his 14 year career with G4 he has hosted two different incarnations of X-Play (originally titled Extended Play until sometime in the 2000s) and pioneered a popular VLog series called Sessler’s Soapbox where he provides his raw unscripted opinion on the news of the day. 2012 has been a year of change for the gaming journalism landscape. The formation of Verge brought

Paradox CEO hosting a live stream demo of Warlock today

Posted on April 26, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Fredrik Wester, the fun loving CEO of Paradox Interactive, will host a live streaming demo of Warlock: Master of the Arcane today. My understanding is that Warlock is a bit like Civilization V, except with Warlocks mixed in, as well as the types of things that spell casters tend to attract (fireballs, vampires, the Spanish inquisition, etc). If you are curious about this upcoming empire builder, then check out the live stream at this link. The demonstration will take place at 11am PDT / 8pm CEST. In the meantime, you can watch a trailer for the game after the jump.

Posted on April 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Want some new threads for your Xbox Live avatar but don’t want to shell out 80 points for a new shirt? Save yourself some Microsoft Points (and by extension real world money) with Ubisoft’s free Darksiders II avatar T-Shirt. The free T-shirt can be obtained by visiting the Darksiders II facebook page and following the link to the Avatar giveaway page. The free avatar T-Shirt actually looks pretty neat. Usually they are simply the game’s logo on a white or black background but THQ’s offering however features some pretty interesting art of Death, the games protagonist. Darksiders II will be

Posted on April 25, 2012 by Jesse Lord

3DS owners, if you haven’t already done so, now is the time to update your system!  There was an announcement during the Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast informing the public about the update, which has a handful of useful changes, not the least of which is the folder functionality.  Now you will be able to create folders which can contain up to sixty items per folder, which is quite handy if you’ve been on a downloading frenzy since launch. Furthermore, this update will allow for Nintendo to push patches and updates for their games, such as the loopholes found in Mario
