Posted on June 15, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

At E3 2016 I got the opportunity to not only check out Dead Rising 4 in action but also get the chance to have one of the employees from Capcom Vancouver narrate the entire on-floor demonstration. Frank West returns to Willamette Colarado at Christmas time in the Capcom’s latest zombie slaying title, the site of the original outbreak incident outlined in 2006’s Dead Rising 1. Players checking out Dead Rising 4 were only able to play as Frank in a small section of Willamette but Capcom Vancouver informed us that the total map size in the final game will be

Posted on June 3, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Hard Reset
Flying Wild Hog’s upgraded and augmented version of their 2012 FPS Hard Reset hits Steam and other digital distribution platforms today but some fans are already scrutinizing the game.  Complaints have included accusations of blurry textures, missing lighting effects, ambient occlusion being disabled among other changes. The source of this comparison is a 4 minute long YouTube video by Candyland where these changes are laid out using rather short gameplay segments. Some commenters have pointed out that the developers may have intended to remove or change certain features, like lighting effects, in the name of optimization and higher overall framerates. Internal SEGA USA “Trainumentary” Is The Most 90s Thing Ever

Posted on May 15, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The 1990s were a magical time when Jolt Cola was still readily available, Bill Clinton was President, SEGA & Sonic the Hedgehog rivaled Nintendo & Mario in popularity and you could totally get away with wearing a beanie to work!  Prepare yourselves for possibly one of the most 90s videos you’ve ever seen courtesy of the 1996 SEGA USA Testing Department – “The SEGA TEST”. Early ‘96 was an odd time for the folks at SEGA USA – SEGA was coming off a particular strong ’94 where they had outsold the SNES in North America, the begging of ’96 was

Posted on May 10, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Square Enix brought the latest primal battle from Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward to PAX East last month, giving non-subscribers and newcomers to the game the chance to take down Sephirot on the show-floor. The newest threat to Eorzea might be several months old – being introduced in late February – but the fight took center stage at Square Enix’s PAX East booth. Two rows of 4 demo stations were lined back to back with one player’s screen being broadcast on a large screen facing the crowd outside Square’s booth. Check out two minutes of my favorite class, the bard, taking

Eve Online Celebrates Its’ 13th Birthday

Posted on May 7, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Can you believe that CCP’s baby, EVE Online, has turned 13? Usually, the teenage years are a time for rebellion, Defiance and not a Tabula Rasa for long time fans. But since all of those games no longer exist – it’s actually an amazing milestone for a massively multiplayer online title to be live for such  a long time.  EVE: Online joins the leagues of games like Ashron’s Call, Everquest 1 and Lineage II as being one of the few games from the golden age of MMOs in the mid-00s to still welcome new players. Developers CCP is celebrating this major

DOOM Launch Trailer Asks Us To Fight Like Hell

Posted on May 5, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

We didn’t really have a good idea about what DOOM’s single player would be like, outside of the DOOM single player demos from last year’s E3. That all changed with the recent 2 hour live-stream hosted by Bethesda where we learned new details like the fact that sometimes, especially on custom Snap-map game types enemies will fight amongst themselves before getting to you. Some fans have described the gameplay as “fairly large open sections with enemies sprinkled into them”, and after watching a lot of single-player footage I’m in agreement. This might feel like a bit of a step back,

Posted on May 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ark: Survival Evolved
At PAX East 2016 we got the chance to ask Jesse Rapczak from Studio Wildcard some questions from the ARK: Survival Evolved community.
