State of Decay 2 Brings Post Apocalyptic Scares Next Spring

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

State of Decay 2’s trailer asks us the hard questions about surviving in an urban post apocalyptic hell-scape like:  “who do you decide to save?” and “do you kill a friend or do everything you can to save them?”. Player choice, player action and the consequences of both of those are front and center during the gameplay reveal trailer shown at Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier today.

We see the survivors make choices like where to build their settlements, whether or not to give a party member the last remaining antidote and whether or not to take revenge against the creature that just ripped your friend in two. Literally, there is a visceral scene near the end where we see a survivor get picked up by a large hulking zombie and then torn in half at the waist with visceral levels of entrails spilling onto the floor. Clearly State of Decay 2 is not for the faint of heart.

State of Decay 2 will release on both the Windows 10 Store and Xbox One Store in Spring 2018. It will feature enhancements for the newly announced supped up Xbox One X as well.

Sea of Thieves Gets 9 Minute Demo @ E3 2017, Coming Out Spring 2018

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

We’ve known about Rare’s Sea of Thieves for quite some time now but now we know approximately when it will come out – Spring 2017. Rare’s colorful pirate world comes to life in an 8-minute gameplay trailer showcasing a team of four searching an island for an epic treasure. Players will collect cryptic riddle maps that will the player & their friends find epic loot, should they be able to survive the encounter. Perhaps my favorite moment in the E3 2017 Sea of Thieves demonstration was when the player shot themselves out of a canon and absolutely wrecked another crew’s ship.

Sea of Thieves will be available in Spring 2018 for Windows 10 PC and Xbox One and supports the cross-play cross-buy Play Anywhere initiative.

MMORPG Black Desert Online Coming To Xbox One

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

As an MMORPG Black Desert Online is known for being drop dead gorgeous and if you have a PC with high enough specs to run the game on ultra settings, you’re in for a treat. Microsoft announced at their E3 press conference that the game will be coming to Xbox One later this year and will be enhanced by the power of Xbox One X (formally “Project Scorpio”).

Here is how the game’s Steam Page describes the game, which I feel gives a good rundown of how Black Desert Online differs from other Buy To Play MMORPGs. Also the PC version has native support for Xbox One controllers, so it makes sense that Kakao Games would bring it to the Xbox One family of consoles.

“Black Desert Online is a sandbox, living-world MMORPG. Experience fast-paced, action-packed combat, hunt monsters and huge bosses, fight with friends in a guild to siege nodes and region castles, train your life skills such as fishing, trading, crafting, cooking, and much more!

Players will enjoy jaw-dropping graphics, intuitive skill-based combat, and an immersive story encased in our expansive world that’s just waiting to be explored. Accompanied by a Black Spirit, a companion whose destiny is intertwined with their own, players will discover the secret of the Black Stones and the history of their corrupting effects.”

Super Lucky’s Tale Looks Charming As Heck

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Shown during Microsoft’s E3 live press conference it was confirmed that an enhanced version of 2016’s Lucky’s Tale will be coming to Windows 10 and Xbox consoles. Super Lucky’s Tale looks like a whimsical and charming platform adventure where players guide the titular Fox, Lucky and a bug companion through colorful worlds.

Lucky’s Tale minus the previously required VR headset looks like it could be a very fulfilling and enjoyable romp. It will be out this November, check out the debut trailer below.

Need For Speed Payback Aims To Be The Grand Theft Auto of Racing Games

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

It’s an overused and clichéd shorthand to call any game the ‘GTA of [X]’ or the ‘Grand Theft Auto but [Y]’ yet after watching two different demonstrations of Need For Speed Payback that is exactly the direct comparison I find myself making.

Need For Speed Payback was unveiled during the EA Play Keynote and live stream earlier today. In what has become an annual franchise as of late, this latest NFS title sees the player take control of three different protagonists (just like a certain Rockstar game) who are down on their luck. To get the titular payback against a rival group the trio must stage elaborate, almost action movie like, heists (just like a Rockstar developed game that I won’t mention again in this article). Oh and Payback also happens to be “the most open-world NFS titled developed [by Ghost Games]” according to one of the developer during EA’s presentation.

From what they’ve shown of the experience so far, it feels like a mix between a high action movie, the burnout games of yore and the open world– “go anywhere”- gameplay of 2013’s Need For Speed: Rivals. All told this entry looks very promising and since Rivals was one of my favorites in recent memory next to 2010’s Hot Pursuit remake – Need For Speed Rivals could turn out to be a high-octane thrill ride.

Need For Speed Payback will be out on Xbox One / Scoprio, PS4 /PS4 Pro and PC. It will be released on November 11th 2017

New Kingdom Hearts III Trailer Still Lacks Release Date

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Square Enix released a brand new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III almost a full four years after it was originally revealed at E3 2013. My original headline about the game’s announcement so many years ago told readers that “no you’re not dreaming, Kingdom Hearts 3 has been announced” and now this latest trailer opens with “Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy” – for the entire series fan base and enthusiast press playing KH III has been relegated to the realm of dream or fantasy since the title has yet to appear at a major industry convention or conference in anything but pre-rendered trailer footage.

As for the details about what’s going on in this trailer… well, I haven’t the slightest gosh darn clue. My wife and I are slowly playing through the series and I’ve still got three games left (Dream Drop Distance, Birth By Sleep, 2.8 Prologue) before I am completely caught up. So far the series plot (to me) is slightly disjointed but still enjoyable, if not a little off the wall.

If you want to see pretty visuals of Sora pulling off cool combo moves, Pete and Maleficent rendered in crisp PS4 HD and for the first time four party members active at once – watch the trailer below.

While there’s no release date the end of this trailer, Square Enix does promise the reveal of a brand new world and another new trailer at D23 this coming July.

Come on Square – can we have a release date now? Don’t let our dreams be dreams and give us a release date.. JUST DO IT
