Ok, we’re officially to the end of our Skyrim giveaway contest. MAJOR thanks go out to Bethesda for not only providing the copies of Skyrim and Dragonborn DLC, but for also giving us a shout-out on the official Elder Scrolls Twitter account. While our site quickly tapped out under the huge and sudden influx of visitors hoping to score the game, we got the word out via our Facebook page as well as our Twitter page.
We had an influx of tweets all asking for either the full version on PC, or the DLC for the 360. Our Twitter following more than tripled in a very short timeframe! After counting the number of unique entries, we then used a random number generator to get our two winners. And without further ado, the winners are….Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: bethesda softworks, Contest, Elder Scrolls, Give Away, Skyrim
Let’s talk a bit about a little video game franchise you guys may have heard about.
For those that might not know, my love for all things Grand Theft Auto runs quite deep. I helped to start GTA Hood, the IGN Grand Theft Auto portal site, and worked there from the beginning until IGN decided to shut all portal sites down earlier this year. I’ve had the chance to visit Rockstar Games on three different occasions as a result of working with the site, to preview their upcoming games (EfLC expansion/Red Dead Redemption, L. A. Noire and Max Payne 3), and at these fansite events I had a chance to meet and interface with other major players in the Rockstar/GTA fansite world. When IGN did decide to close the doors of GTA Hood, I knew I wanted to reach out to one of the other fansite owners and see if I could join their ranks. Long story short, I ended up landing at GTANet, home to GTA game-specific sites and also the owner of GTAForums, the largest GTA forum on the interwebs.
So why am I telling you this? Why should you care? (more…)Posted in: Microsoft, Sony Tags: Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 5, Grand Theft Auto V, GTA, GTA5, GTAV, Rockstar Games, Take Two Interactive
What’s that, you say? You’re just itching for some more footage of Lara Croft doing her thing in the upcoming Tomb Raider game? Well we’re here to help! Just yesterday Square Enix sent out a new trailer, titled “Survivor.” Check it out below:
By way of reminder, Tomb Raider is slated to be released on March 5th, 2013 on multiple platforms. For me, that cannot come soon enough!Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: Crystal Dynamics, Lara Croft, Square Enix, Tomb Raider
Around the Broken Joysticks offices, it’s beginning to look a lot like SKYRIM-mas!
Bethesda were kind enough to send us a Steam code for the retail release of Skyrim, in addition to an extra Xbox 360 DLC code for the Dragonborn DLC, which we’re currently playing through for review purposes. So we figured we’d take the time right now to pull together a contest of sorts to get these fantastic products into your hands, dear readers. Here’s what you have to do:
See, we have this twitter acccount, @brokenjoysticks – we’d love for you to follow that account, and then post something to your twitter feed – @ us – declaring your desire to get the game. That’s it. It’s that simple. It could be something like “I really hope @brokenjoysticks makes my Christmas by giving me Skyrim!” or “@brokenjoysticks is great because I just KNOW they’re going to give me Skyrim this Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa!” Things like that. It might make sense, if you have the game already for 360 and are gunning for the Xbox 360 DLC code, to have your tweet reflect as such. So you could say “I hope to extend my Skyrim experience with Dragonborn DLC thanks to @brokenjoysticks!” You get the idea.
The contest is open from right…. NOW, until Wednesday evening, 8:00 PM EST December 12th, when we’ll randomly pick two tweets and give the prizes away that evening or the following morning. So get folllowing, get @ us, and get a game for free!
(Unfortunately, the contest is only open to North American readers, for compatibility purposes with Steam and Xbox 360. Sorry about that to all of our international readers!)Posted in: Site News
Bethesda just sent over this fantastic new trailer for the first bit of DLC for Dishonored, called Dunwall City Trials. Check it out below!
This DLC comes out on December 11th, this coming Tuesday, and will cost you $4.99 on PC and PS3, and 400 MS Points on Xbox 360.
Also, I just got a nice Holiday card in the mail from our friends at Bethesda, so I wanted to take the time to say thanks for that! Here’s what they sent – it’s a very stealthy Christmas, apparently:Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: Arkane Studios, bethesda softworks, dishonored, Dunwall City Trials
Ready for a return trip through the city of Dunwall? Hope so, as Bethesda have just announced the release date for Dunwall City Trials, the first DLC package to be released for the stealth assassination game Dishonored, which we had a great time reviewing earlier this year (seriously, it’s a great game – get it if you haven’t yet!). Dunwall City Trials is not a storyline expansion, but rather a series of challenge maps. Straight from Bethesda’s press release:
Dunwall City Trials will include 10 challenge maps that will test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills. Creatively combine your supernatural abilities, weapons and gadgets to eliminate as many targets as possible, fight off waves of tallboys, guards, weepers and thugs, or take out targets in a non-stop run of drop assassinations. Dunwall City Trials also features a new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard.
The expansion pack is going to be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, and will cost 400 Microsoft points or $4.99 for PC/PS3. Will you be picking this up? Let us know!Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: Arkane Studios, bethesda softworks, dishonored, Dunwall City Trials
Bethesda just sent out this fantastic video showcasing superb combos and tactics culled from fans of Dishonored who posted their talents in video form on YouTube. Without further ado, here it is!
Many thanks to Bethesda for sending this along.Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: Arkane Studios, bethesda softworks, dishonored
So by now hopefully you’ve seen the amazing Trailer 2 for GTA V. Here is a run-down of my analysis of it, some predictions based on what I’ve seen, and any differences between this one and the official announcement trailer shown earlier this year.
The trailer opens with shots of the opulent neighborhood that Michael, one of the series’ three protagonists, lives in – and from there it’s simply a whirlwind of clips and shots, giving you an idea of just what kind of a ride you’re in for. Here are some bulleted observations: (more…)Posted in: Microsoft, Sony Tags: Grand Theft Auto 5, Grand Theft Auto V, GTA 5, GTA V, Rockstar Games
The wait is almost over – check back here for the trailer at 11:00 AM EST, a mere forty minutes from now!Posted in: Microsoft, Sony Tags: Grand Theft Auto 5, Grand Theft Auto V, GTA 5, GTA V, Rockstar Games
I’m almost drooling as I contemplate the fact that a new GTA V video is coming out in less than twenty-four hours! I can’t stand it. While I’m sitting over here trying to calm myself down, why don’t you all go ahead and check out this almost-half-hour video where Game Informer reps that got to see GTA V in action talk through their impressions.
And keep your eyes peeled for the new trailer, set to debut tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM EST. It’s going to be a good day.Posted in: Microsoft, Site News, Sony Tags: Grand Theft Auto 5, Grand Theft Auto V, GTA 5, GTA V, Rockstar Games
