Rainbow Six Siege Gets A Limited Time $20 Starter Edition

Posted on June 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft today announced a $20 CDN feature limited version of the multiplayer focused Rainbow Six Siege that will be available from now until June 19th.

Players who purchase Rainbow Six Siege starter edition will receive access to all of the maps that were released at launch as well as the free content drops that appear frequently. Starter Edition players will also have access to all available game modes, weapons, attachments can go through the entire progression system. Full version owners & Starter Edition  owners also play on the same servers and Starter Edition players can also play in the competitive scene.

How things differ is how player characters, called “operators” unlock in the Starter Edition. In the regular game players can unlock all of the operators for free with about 2 hours of in-game playtime per character or by purchasing a Season’s Pass. The starter edition will unlock two operators from a randomized pool and then provide players with 600 RB coins which can be used to purchase 2 additional operators. Additional characters will take about 15 hours in-game time to earn and there is a one-week lockout from newly announced operators for non-Season Pass holders.

Rainbow Six: Siege

In their FAQ Ubisoft explains that Starter Edition players have multiple ways to earn more renown through daily / weekly missions if they want to try out new characters”

How can I unlock the operators faster when playing the Starter Edition?
– Play the Daily and Weekly Challenges to unlock extra Renown
– Purchase Renown Boosters.
– Wait for the weekly Operators discounts (Renown and R6 Credits).
– Purchase the 35$/€ R6 Credits pack to unlock all the 16 original Operators (attacker and defender bundle).

Rainbow Six: Siege Operation Black Ice Released With New Trailer

Posted on February 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Rainbow Six: Siege

Ubisoft have released a brand new in-game trailer to celebrate the release of Operation Black Ice, the first major expansion to last December’s Rainbow Six: Siege. Along with the new trailer they also updated their official site to outline all of the content that is about to go live in Operation Black Ice.

Here is just a brief rundown of some of the additions:

  • Brand new map that takes place in Artic Canada – Yacht
  • Two new operators from the JTF2 (Joint Task Force) – Buck and Frost
  • Spectator mode available on game modes.
  • New Weapon Skins
  • Various balance changes to existing content

It is pretty cool to see Canadian special forces represented in the game, complete with our own map! Trust me – even if parts of our country get really cold in the winter, our whole country isn’t some tundra arctic wasteland. Watch the video in the embedded player below or head on over to the official Operation Black Ice website for a list of all the changes.

Rainbow Six Siege Free Weekend Starts Today

Posted on December 18, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft recently brought back the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchise with the release of Rainbow Six: Siege earlier this month for Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Now they’re giving PC gamers the chance to try out the multiplayer centric take on the long running series with a free weekend that just kicked off on Uplay.

Alongside the free weekend for Siege, and a heavily discounted price (25%) off the full game, Ubisoft has also begun their Holiday Sale. It looks like your wallet is the objective and every major publisher is using their best tactics to reach their goal. Its been awhile when we can say that you could try out two of the year’s newest shooters for free.

We published rather exhaustive impressions of the game’s closed beta back in October when that went live. If you want to get a sense of how the game plays before committing to the massive download you can check those out.

Also here’s a partial list of the discount Ubisoft has on offer:

  • Assassins Creed: Liberation – $11.99 CDN
  • Serious Sam HD: First & Second Encounter – $4.00 CDN Each
  • Not A Hero – $10.99 CDN
  • Killer Is Dead -$4.00 CDN
  • Escape Dead Island – $4.00 CDN
  • Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition – $20.00 CDN
  • Remember Me – $6.00 CDN
  • Tomb Raider GOTY – $7.50 CDN
  • Witcher III + Both Expansions – $51.99 CDN

If you chose to enlist with the special operations group Rainbow this December where will your adventures take you? Perhaps you’ll visit Courchevel, France or Hamburg, Germany or maybe even Los Angeles, California.

The latest gameplay trailer for Rainbow Six: Siege shows gives us a brief look at some of the locations that were not included in last month’s extended beta.
