Weekend Steam Deals: Activision Publisher Sale

This weekend’s Steam deals include a number of deals on several Activision titles across a number of genres. Everything from several Call of Duty titles, multiple Transformers games and Platinum Game’s recent Legend of Kora title have been heavily discounted until Monday morning. If you’ve wanted to jump in on older Activision games like 2012’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, which seems to be several times better than last year’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 now is the time time to do so for less than $5!

When the original Prototype came out a few years ago, it brought one of the most bloodiest games out on gaming platforms to date. The game was featured around a guy named Alex Mercer and was a researcher for project Blacklight. When he found out the bad things that were happening with his research, he decides to go out on his own to try to stop the threat. Prototype 2 Now Available For PC

Not even PC’s are safe from the Blacklight Virus that spreads in Activision’s Prototype 2. The publisher has announced that the Windows PC version of Radical Entertainment’s last game will be available in North America starting today and in Europe on July 27th, that’s this coming friday.

The Windows version of the game will retail for $49.99 through several digital distribution services and casts you in the role of James Heller as he traverses a devastated New York City.

If you’re worried your rig won’t be up to the task, you might want to take a peek at the minimum specs for Prototype 2 after the jump. Unfortunately Dual Core machines are out of the running, Prototype 2 seems to be one of the few games that requires at least 3 cores running at 2.6gh with a 3GHZ quad core recommended.Read More

[Prototype] Developer No More

Radical Entertainment, the Vancouver-based developers behind [Prototype], [Prototype 2] as well as last generation’s Hulk Ultimate Destruction and The Simpsons: Hit and Run have close their doors Activision confirmed today.

News of the closure spread around social media rather quickly with former members of the studio breaking the news over twitter. Oddly, updates to the companies’ Facebook and Twitter accounts happened mere hours before the closure was announced, suggesting that this closure came about rather quickly.

Prototype 2 Gameplay Walkthrough

After the release of Radical Entertainment’s Prototype back in 2009 many fans and have been anxiously awaiting the release of the game’s sequel, Prototype 2. Which has promised to improve many of the more lackluster elements of the game. Well, a gameplay walkthrough has been revealed showing off a section of the game and some very sleek and stylish new elements by the game’s design director Matt Armstrong.

The short, but satisfying six minute video does a great job of showing off the games elements and style. We see our new protagonist, James Heller, near the beginning of the game infiltrating a Black Watch base with the ability to flawlessly disguise as enemies, as well as showing off how the AI reacts to this new appearance by frightening nearby civilians. It doesn’t take long into the video to show off the exciting combat gameplay by showing us a boss fight and some of the abilities you will get.
