Killing Floor 2 Takes A Tropical Vacation In Latest Update

Posted on January 19, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Killing Floor 2 gets a huge content infusion with the release of the Tropical Bash Content Pack on Windows PC and PlayStation 4 today. Bringing a brand new map set on a tropical island, a new mace & shield for the Berserker class, a new type of energy and the ability to cross-class certain weapon types – this update looks to kick off 2017 with a bang.

New Map

Set on the tropical island of Zed Landing (isn’t that name appropriate for an area infested with the undead), this brand new maps sees players explore a downed helicopter while an imposing volcano bellows smoke off in the distance.  Alongside this brand new map is a whole set of new achievements for Zed slayers to collect.

New Enemy

A brand new horrifying monstrosity is awaiting to be unleashed on Zed Landing, the Gore Fiend. Featuring a grotesque long tongue and two rusty blades for hands this new undead nightmare is nothing to laugh at, perhaps it is really a cut above the rest of the Zeds?

New Weapons For Berserker

Berserkers get a brand new tier 4 weapon with the addition of the Bone Crusher. Comprised of a spiked circular shield and a make-shift mace made out of a baseball bat and some long nails this new kit should enable the Berserker to crush in the skulls of the hordes of Zed. The hubcap shield can also be used to parry enemies causing them to stagger backwards.

Cross-Classing Weapons

Do you find yourself picking a class like Command only to find yourself adopting a single weapon from another class because it suits your playstyle more? With the new cross-class system many different weapons can be combined during play which should open up new options for those who like to stick to a single class. While Tripwire didn’t publish a complete list of cross-class weapon combinations they did provide a few examples:

  • Use the HMTech Medical Assault Rifle, the Incendary Trench Gun or M16 M293 as the Commando.
  • Use the VLAD-1000 Nail Gun as Support.
  • Use the HMTech-201 Sub Machinegun as SWAT.

Killing Floor 2 is currently also on sale on Steam for $19.99 USD. Check out Tripwire’s official blog post for more information on the latest update.

Killing Floor 2 Has Gone Gold On All Platforms

Posted on November 13, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tripwire Interactive and publisher Deep Silver have jointly announced that Killing Floor 2 has gone gold on PS4 and Windows PC. This means that the zombie slaughtering team shooter will be leaving Steam Early Access after being in development for the past 18 months, originally going live in March 2015 on Windows.

Killing Floor was partially developed with the help of Sony Computer Interactive – as the motion capture for the game’s animations were captured at Sony’s Santa Monica California motion capture studios. Other technological innovations in KF2 include the evisceration system which allows individual limbs to separated with each enemies having five distinct separation points. The graphics team at Tripwire interactive also focused heavily on how blood was rendered in the game – spending considerable time on how blood was generate from wounds and how it split onto surfaces.

An open beta was available on PlayStation 4 for all the check out earlier this month. The physical release of Killing Floor 2 will be priced at $49.99 CDN on PS4.

Killing Floor 2 Launches On PlaySation 4 This November

Posted on August 16, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tripwire Interactive’s co-operative FPS zombie slaying title Killing Floor 2 will be coming to PS4 in both digital and retail flavors on November 18th thanks to publishers Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive.

Killing Floor 2 was first playable on PlayStation 4 back at E3 where Tripwire demo’d the title on PlayStation 4 dev-kits, allowing attendees to try out the co-op action for themselves.  The PS4 version was originally revealed at the 2015 PlayStation Experience alongside a PS4 Developer Diary Video.

We covered Killing Floor 2 back in August of last year while the title was still in Early Access on Windows PC. I really enjoyed the games high energy and upbeat soundtrack and the bright splashes of color Killing Floor 2 brings to the usually drab world of the post-apocalyptic undead.  Tripwire interactive have been busy iterating on the title in the subsequent months since I last previewed the game, adding new maps and expanding upon existing player roles.

Doom Franchise & Killing Floor 2 Highlight Steam Weekend Deals

If you’re in the mood to shoot some undead monsters in the face, then this weekend’s Steam Deal might just the thing for you.

Killing Floor 2 is free to play until Sunday afternoon. This means anyone who meets the minimum requirements and doesn’t mind a 10GB download then you can get in on the co-operative Zed killing action with the wave of new players this free weekend will bring.

If you’re more of a solo FPS players than Bethesda’s discount on the entire DOOM franchise might be of more interest. Almost every entry in the series – except for the upcoming 2016 reboot- has been discounted. Honestly the price difference between DOOM 3 standard and DOOM 3 BFG, which includes the Lost Mission Expansion, is less than $1 USD. If you’re going to go for anything DOOM related, that’d be my pick.

Here’s a full breakdown of all this weekend’s Steam Deals:

Doom 3 Pack (Includes Resurrection of Evil) – $4.75 CDN
Doom 3 BFG Edition – $5.49 CDN
