Why These Three Star Wars Games Got It Right

Posted on December 16, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

I absolutely love the Star Wars franchise – like many children of the late 80s and early 90s I grew up alongside the films, my parents showed them to me on VHS just before the Special Editions came out in theatres. Nowadays the use of puppets looks silly, I mean Yoda can’t even hit things with stick he just kind of nudges them, the effects are hella dated and the series is full of plot holes that you can fly the Executor Star Destroyer through but it’s still really fun. The same can be said about several of the interactive experiences based off of George Lucas’ most famous works. Here’s why the following three Star Wars games got it right.Read More

New Logo Kojima Productions Revealed

Posted on December 16, 2015 by Broken Joysticks

Kojima Productions, the new studio founded by industry legend Hideo Kojima, has released their new logo. Many have already pointed out the logo bears a striking resemblance to the “soldiers without borders” logo Big Boss adopts after he goes solo, which is fitting considering the original logo Kojima worked under Konami was the same Big Boss used when he was still a part of Fox unit. Kojima Production is now working with Sony on a Playstation exclusive title. Check out the new logo below.

How the Hard West was Won

Hard West by PlayWay, was released November 18th, it was successfully Kickstarted back in September by over 4,000 people. Hard West is a new release in a small field of turn-based squad tactics games. This game comes from PlayWay, a newer developer perhaps best known for its Car Mechanic Simulator games. It’s not exactly a triple-A developing and publishing house, so it’s nice to see the inclusion of support for OSX, SteamOS (Ubuntu), and Windows.

If nothing else, the release is timed extremely well. This game has come out right before the holiday season, two years after the last X-Com releases and Shadowrun Returns. If you’re not a fan of the isometric Nintendo hand held tactics games, this is pretty much your newest choice.

The Imperium fleet showcased in new Battlefleet Gothic Imperium Faction Trailer

Posted on December 16, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive today warp into the Imperium faction, for their new RTS adaptation of Games Workshops famous tabletop game. Featuring miles-long ships, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada pits four factions against each other for control of the Gothic sector of space. HOLY SHIT IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME. Battlefleet Gothic has long been one of Games Workshops least interesting but prettiest games, to bring it to the digital wold is going to be amazing

Today we see Imperial ships, not the fastest or most powerfull, but since there is only war, the humans have refined the art of war in space. The video is going to delve in to the the finer points of the human armadas ships!

Defined by dense void shields and metres thick armour, these ships can adapt to any kind of battle situation. Their torpedo strikes and devastating Nova cannon blasts are enough devastate most opponents. Any that do survive are quickly dispatched by the powerful broadside armaments, while the Imperium ships’ armour and shields ensure they survive the encounter. If your targets are not shredded by your barrages of torpedo strikes – or, if your ships are equipped, devastating Nova cannon blasts – your powerful broadside Macro-cannons and Lance batteries will make short work of what’s left of the enemy. As a last-resort, remember the ships are well-armoured and can take quite a beating. This means that ramming your prow into the hull of an enemy ship can be a surprisingly effective tactic, especially if your target is of a smaller class.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada warps in on PC beginning of 2016.

AANNNDDDD I’m excited, this game looks like everything I have ever wanted for space war game, and I am just a huge Warhammer 40K fan in general, so this is goign to be great!
