F.E.A.R Online Revealed, Beta Applications Open

Posted on July 26, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Horror goes free to play with the announcement of the closed beta for F.E.A.R online. Aeria games raised the curtain on the title earlier in the week, providing not only a reveal trailer but also an open application for the game’s upcoming closed beta test.

Alma Wade, the icon little girl featured in the game’s marketing, has been scaring gamers since the first F.E.A.R was released in 2005 for the Xbox 360 and PC. Since then we’ve had two proper sequels, 2009’s F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin and 2011’s F.E.A.R 3.

F.E.A.R Online is a continuation of Monolith’s original horror FPS, being developed by Inplay Interactive. It will feature the Soul King mode, originally introduced in F.E.A.R 3, as well a story driven component that will continue the narrative beyond the first three titles.

You’ll need an Aeria Games account to access the beta registration page, no word yet on when F.E.A.R Online will be available to general public.Read More

Shadows of the Eternal’s Kickstarter Is Back From The Dead

Posted on July 26, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

You can’t keep a good game down, and it seems like Precursor Game’s Shadow of the Eternal is one of those projects that won’t go down without a fight. After a failed dual source funding campaign that combined KickStarter and their own crowd funding effort through the game’s official website, Shadow’s of the Eternals has been relisted on KickStarter with a much smaller target. David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake, has also joined in the on this time period jumping action-adventure according to the re-launched campaign.

Amazingly they have raised $116,000 in just 24 hours! With 28 days to go, will they hit their $750,000 goal?

Shadows of The Eternals is a spiritual successor to the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness, in fact many staffers on the Precursor team are former members of Silicon Knights, the developers of Eternal Darkness. Shadows, if funded will feature an 8 – 10 hour campaign, rather than being delivered episodically as originally planned, includes the signature “sanity effects” and will be developed in collaboration with Kickstarter backers through a special forum. They are currently targeting PC and WiiU with the PlayStation 4 as a stretch goal.Read More

Posted on July 24, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

The fighting game community (FGC) has grown from holding local events to smaller venues to occupying ballrooms at four-star establishments with talent from all across the globe attending. Major sponsors such as Capcom, Namco Bandai, and others are responsible for the development of some of the world’s most famous franchises in gaming, and are showcased at a central tournament featuring the top fighting talent from across the world. With major prize pools, fighting games are now reaching a platform that can be compared to traditional eSports.

Each week, I’ll be posting interviews I’ve had the pleasure of conducting with members of the fighting game community. The interviews will touch upon their history in the FGC, where they got their start, and what they’d like to see from video games in general.

This week’s guest is the one and only Shidosha!Read More

Shin Megami Tensei IV | Review

Posted on July 17, 2013 by Jason Nason

Shin Megami Tensei IV is a fun and deep RPG experience that blends traditional RPG gameplay with monster hunting tactics which leads to a rewarding gameplay experience.

The Shin Megami Tensei RPG series began in Japan in 1992 on Super Famicom, and neither the first installment nor its sequel was published in North America. In 2004 Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne was the first SMT game in North America, although “III” was removed from the PlayStation 2 title. The SMT series later spun-off several sub-series, including Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Digital Devil Saga, and the standalone Strange Journey. This new RPG is considered the fourth in the Shin Megami Tensei mainline series.Read More

Time and Eternity | Review

Posted on July 16, 2013 by Les Major

If you’re looking for a slower paced RPG with action based combat and romantic anime overtones with occasional lightly perverted jokes, this title is for you. Time and Eternity is a game you relax to since it does take a decent amount of time to play through. Combat especially can be quite lengthy and the battlefield areas can have quite a bit of ground to cover. This review contains early on spoilers.Read More

It’s a long summer, and the next Pokémon release is a few months away. So why not take a vacation with a different game in Epic Pets 3D, a new Pokémon-like indie pet game by Quick Fix Inc?

I hadn’t heard about Epic Pets 3D yet until today, but thanks to a friend I’ve been checking it out and it definitely looks like a lot of fun! Indie games are definitely making a surge these days into beautiful titles and Epic Pets 3D has a clean art style to it! With over 300 five star reviews on Google Play already and new updates on the way including new ePets, it looks like the game has a promising future.

Best of all, the game is free to your Android device on Google Play and Kindle Fire with just some ad support, but it looks like you can even purchase a remove for that in the in-game store. Read on for the trailer.Read More
