Crimson Dragon: Side Story Coming To Windows Phone

Posted on September 5, 2012 by Joshua Rust

When we say “coming to Windows Phone”, we mean it’s coming to Windows Phone next week according to PlayXBLA.com. While the Xbox Live Arcade game Crimson Dragon has yet to receive a release date, the Windows Phone game Crimson Dragon: Side Story will release September 12th – though no pricing has been announced thus far.

Features

• In Story Mode, take control of Sana and her dragon White Reaver as they are sent on a special mission revolving around the mysterious pandemic called “Crimonscale Disease”.

• In Mission Mode, the player faces a variety of situations such as high difficulty stages and continuous boss battles, competing for high scores while collecting powerful skills.

• Over 170 Skills are available to be unlocked in-game, and the unlocked skills can be “awakened” in the dragon by using “jewels”. The more powerful the skill, the more jewels are required for awakening.

• Jewels are available not only through the gameplay, but also can be obtained using a location service based on calculation of the distance a player traveled per day in the real world. Additional jewels are also available for purchase. Enter a world dominated by dragons

Mechromancer

Borderlands 2 is only a few short weeks away and no one is more excited about this than us! Gearbox has been showing off the 5th playable character, but has yet to give us an exact release date – until now. The Mechromancer will hit marketplaces roughly about a month after the Borderlands 2 September 18th release date. The Mechromancer will be $10 (or 800 MSP) when she arrives on the marketplace October 16th. Or depending on where you pre-ordered the game, you will get her free as a redeemable code.

For those unfamiliar with the Mechromancer, you can check out our coverage here.

In addition to the Mechromancer, Gearbox has also announced a Season Pass for $30 – which will include four add-ons.

Again, Borderlands 2 launches September 18th and the Mechromancer DLC will hit October 16th. So who’s excited? I know many of you have been following this game for a while, who are you planning on as your starter character?

Ubisoft Is Saying Goodbye To Always-On DRM

Posted on September 5, 2012 by Seung Lee

PC gamers will be relieved to hear that Ubisoft is finally dropping its always-on digital rights management. If you remember Diablo III, that game required players to always be connected to the Internet in order to play. Ubisoft’s PC games will no longer be like that. Instead, Stephanie Perotti, Ubisoft’s worldwide director for online games, told Rock, Paper, Shotgun in an interview that all future titles will come with a “one-time online activation when you first install the game, and from then you are free to play the game offline.”

It may seem like a strange decision for Ubisoft, especially considering that the company’s PC games currently have a 93-95% piracy rate. Then again, perhaps the voices of disappointed gamers around the world finally managed to reach the higher-ups’ ears. After all, people will always find a way to sneak past things like DRM. All it did was annoy the people who actually bought the games.

Fitting for a movie, Hello Games will be deploying their follow-up on a Friday rather than on the tradational Wednesday XBLA release slot. The bigger sequel offers more vehicle variety, as well as new variations on the platforming present in the first game.
