Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Scares Its Way To Steam

Posted on May 20, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Remedy Entertainment’s long awaited semi-sequel to 2009’s Alan Wake was released on the Xbox Live Arcade this past February. It looks like Alan’s nightmares are far from over as American Nightmare is set to wreak havoc on Windows PC tomorrow through Steam for $14.99.

The game features a single player campaign as well as the arcade like “Fight Til Dawn Mode” which tasks players with fighting hordes of enemies until the sun rises. The great thing about Fight Til Dawn is that it can be played co-operatively online with other players. You don’t have to face the darkness alone!

Remedy has published several previously unreleased pieces of concept art to mark the games transition to PC. Check them out after the jump.Read More

Jax Brings In Nearly Half A Million Dollars

Posted on May 19, 2012 by Andrew Minott

To update you on a previous story, Riot Games has announced that at the completion of their fundraiser on Friday, over $480,000 came in due to the participation of over 140,000 contributors, “100 percent of which will go to Make-A-Wish America and Make-A-Wish International in Joe’s name.”

This fundraising plan by Riot mirrors one they ran a year ago to benefit the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan, where over 50,000 League of Legends players helped raise over $160,000 for the Red Cross.

Posted on May 19, 2012 by Andrew Minott

We’ve already told you about one MechWarrior game coming out this year. Did you know there was another?

Being developed for a 2012 PC release by Roadhouse Interactive and ACRONYM Games, MechWarrior Tactics has a top-down battlefield perspective, and has players controlling squads of ‘Mechs (in contrast to MechWarrior Online, in which you control a single bipedal tank from a first-person perspective). And, according to an email sent out a couple days ago, you can acquire a closed beta key by subscribing to their temporary forum site right now.

Check after the jump for some screenshots and some quick game info.

Ubisoft Titles On Sale All Weekend On Steam

Posted on May 19, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft’s vast PC library will be up for sale during various points this weekend thanks to Steam. Every day this weekend Ubisoft will be featuring a different franchise, with each game in that respective franchise a whopping 50 – 75% off. If you can deal with “always on” DRM, then this might be the time to jump into the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry or Rayman franchises. If the particular game you’re looking for isn’t heavily discounted Valve has slashed all Ubisoft published games by 33% for the weekend as well.

Today’s deal has you occupying the shoes of Demond as he relives the genetic memories of his ancestors. Here’s the rundown of all of the Assassin’s Creed savings:

Assassin’s Creed 1 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed 2 – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – $4.99

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – $19.99

It’s too bad I missed yesterday’s deal on the Tom Clancy’s games. I am missing a few of the Ghost Recon games from my collection.

Team 17’s next Worms title, Worms Revolution, will be shown at this year’s E3 the developer confirmed today. Revolution will also bring some major upgrades in terms of physics with new hazards and dynamic water physics.

The Multiple Ways To Enter The Far Cry 3 Beta

Posted on May 18, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Far Cry 3 left a pretty big impression on me when I saw it running at last year’s Ubisoft Press Conference at E3. It looks like everyone will be able to get their hands on the game later this summer on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

The multiplayer beta allows up to 16 players to compete in several modes including Deathmatch and the Firestorm mode, a mode based around the game’s fire physics. Ubisoft promises six playable classes will be available in the beta along with dozens of weapons.

There are multiple ways for you to enter the beta. Check them out after the jump.Read More

Hitler’s Dog to play a major role in Iron Front

Posted on May 18, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Deep Silver has just announced a novel multiplayer mode for X1 Software/AWAR’s upcoming WW2 tactical shooter Iron Front: Liberation 1944. The new mode, named “Assassinate the Blondie,” tasks two Soviet players with the job of killing Blondi, Hitler’s ever loyal German Shepherd. Two German players will naturally have to protect their Führer’s beloved pet. Doubtlessly, Blondi’s premature death would demoralize Hitler, and the repercussions would negatively affect the German war effort.

It is unclear right now what Blondi will be doing. Will one of Hitler’s confidants be walking Blondi? Will Blondi be unleashed and aimlessly wandering about the map? Will someone be able to play as Blondi? As a fan of the Escort/Assassination mode from Team Fortress Classic, I’m hoping that the later is the case. Read on for some pictures from this mode.Read More

New Rainbow Moon Screenshots!

Posted on May 18, 2012 by Eric Bastelak

So there is this new turn based RPG coming exclusivly to the PSN Rainbow Moon, the game looks akin to Final Fantasy Tactics. So this could be very interesting, a turn based RPG with an epic story and world for me to discover?

Who knows promising games have broken my heart before, so for the mean time I’m keeping this one at arms length. Though the RPG fanatic can’t resist holding out some hope. Rainbow Moon releases in Summer of 2012. So should get to go into agonising detail on my feelings for the game when it releases. Check out a choice screenshot (See what I mean this shows promise^-^).Read More

Rayman Origins 3DS Demo Now Available

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Have you been looking for a mobile platforming fix? Ubisoft has released a demo version of Rayman Origins on the 3DS E-Shop. This demo doesn’t skimp on the content either, offering prospective owners 3 full levels from the final game including Swinging Caves, Playing in the Shade and Shooting Me Softly.

The console version of Origins was a critical success and regarded as one of the best Rayman games to date. The 3DS version expands upon what made last year’s console release so great with Street Pass functionality and in game collectables.

The full version of Rayman Origins for the Nintendo 3DS will be released on June 5th at a suggested price of $29.99.

Solid Snake Infiltrates Vita On June 12th

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

We already knew that the Metal Gear Solid Collection would be making the jump to Vita next month but now we have a more specific window. Solid Snake will make his debut on Sony’s next generation portable on June 15th according to Konami.

The Vita version of Metal Gear Solid Collection will differ slightly from its console counterparts. For one it only includes Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 since Peace Walker can be purchased digital through the PSN already.  Konami has also implemented some touch based controls in both games, giving you the ability to zoom with a sniper rifle or peak around corners, for example.

Check out the full press release after the jump.Read More

Ground-Attack Planes added to World of Warplanes

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

Ground-attack aircraft have just been added to World of Warplanes, the sister game to World of Tanks. A recently released trailer and new screenshots show that players will be able to dive bomb targets with “flying tanks” like the IL-2. Does this mean that, eventually, World of Tanks players will be able to call for some close air support? I certainly hope so.

World of Warplanes is still a ways out. However, those interested in trying it can sign up for the global alpha test at worldofwarplanes.com.

Read on for a trailer and some screenshots.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion Beta Updated

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

The preorder beta for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, the upcoming stand alone expansion to the Sins of a Solar Empire series, has just been updated to its third version. The main addition is the inclusion of the Vasari, the sole non-human faction in the original Sins of a Solar Empire.

Of course, it isn’t exactly a surprise that the Vasari are in Rebellion, but their presence is welcome. Without them, Sins would be about humans killing humans over whether religion or the free market should rule space. This is a false dichotomy. The Vasari should rule space.

Rebellion launches on June 12. In the meantime, you can watch the latest trailer after the jump.Read More

Dead Island DLC Giveaway

Posted on May 17, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

I don’t know why, but Thursday’s mortify me. It is unquestionably the scariest day of the week. The spooky mood this morning has inspired me to give out something horror related.

Alas, we don’t have any proper horror games. Instead, we’re going to shake things up a bit and give out DLCs. We have Steam, Xbox 360, and PS3 codes for Dead Island’s Bloodbath Arena and Ryder White DLCs. You will find these codes hidden in our articles, Twitter, Steam group, or Facebook page.

Also, I should warn you know that the ghost of Archibald Yell is still occasionally haunting our steam group’s chat room. Ever since he was killed by a Mexican Lancer at the battle of Buena Vista, he’s been doomed to walk the Earth handing out copies of the Mount & Blade Collection…. You have been warned.
