The world of Final Fantasy XIV came crashing down with their world ending event earlier this year. Square Enix is working on a new version of the game with a brand new engine, new mechanics and other enhancements. The publisher has announced plans to begin a multi-stage beta test of A Realm Reborn starting this February. Alongside the announcement of the beta testing plan they also released a short video from an alpha version of the game showcasing the new instanced dungeons.

Legacy players from the original FFXIV and holders of a special pass bundled with Final Fantasy XIV will gain access to all four stages of the beta. The beta steps are as follows: (more…)

Our old friend the PlayStation 2 will be entering its 13th year with this coming March, the console may finally be nearing its end in the east. It has seen a significantly longer lifespan in Japan than say in North America. According to Famitsu, Sony Japan will cease production on the PS2 and once the existing stock has run its course, that’s it.

Sony’s machine launched in the Spring of 2000 in Japan and in October of 2000 here in the west. During that time we have seen the release of several great games such as Metal Gear Solid 2, Final Fantasy X, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series and an entire catalog of great JRPGs.The last major release on western shores for Sony’s second console was 2008′s Persona 4, while Japan has continued to receive a number of new games.

With the PS2 finally being put in the grave, is it time for Sony to unveil the PlayStation 4? Our current console generation is going on seven years, so perhaps it is time. What are some of your favorite PS2 games? The PS2 was released during my first year of high school, damn do I feel old!

Grand Theft Auto V has been on our most wanted list for the last few months, ever since RockStar Games dropped the brand new trailer and plot details we’ve wanted to know when we would have it in our hands.

According to a recently updated Amazon page the game could be released on March 26th.The listing was originally spotted by the folks over at Collider. It is important to note that until Rockstar announces an official date for GTAV this should be considered rumor. I wouldn’t book off an end of March holiday just yet.

World of Warcraft players have been enjoying Mists of Pandaria since its launch his past fall and have been waiting for the next batch of new content. Blizzard has now teased about patch 5.2 in their annual holiday message to players. Actually, message is probably not accurate because it is more of a teaser image. Along with the image Blizzard announced that 5.2 will go live on the Public Test Realm in early January before becoming widely available to all players.

Players expect that 5.2 will bring a new raid centered around The Thunder King as well as a lifting of some of the restrictions on transmogrification and further improvements to PVP Combat.
