Four New State of Decay 2 Screenshots Released At GamesCom 2017

Posted on August 22, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Microsoft alongside State of Decay 2 developer Undead Labs released four new screenshots and a brand new trailer for the 2018 survival title at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany.

State of Decay 2 is, of course, a direct sequel to the 2012 Xbox 360 original that was ported to Windows PC a year later. Like its predecessor, SoD2 will allow players to immerse themselves in a single-player experience where they must team up with other survivors and build settlers to keep themselves safe from the oncoming hordes of the head.

New features and changes from the original game are to be expected: new to State of Decay 2 is the ability for up to three friends to join your game for some co-op survival fun. Unlike the previous game there is no single player character – instead, every survivor in your game world will have their own unique appearance and stats. Other noteworthy additions include Xbox One X enhancements for Microsoft’s upcoming beefed up Xbox One Console. State of Decay 2 will also be a “Xbox Play Anywhere” title meaning that if you purchase it for the home console or through the Windows 10 Store you’ll get it on all supported platforms.

State Of Decay Breakdown | Review

Posted on November 27, 2013 by Les Major

The first DLC expansion to State of Decay is a treat for hardcore fans who want to play out their own survival story without being weighed down by any main story missions. While it may sound strange to purchase an add-on to essentially take things out of the game, this potentially did take a lot of work to accomplish and there is an interesting mildly arcade sort of focus to Breakdown.

Basically the expansion, accessed separately from the title screen, starts you off with Lily Ritter admitting defeat to your situation and looking for a new home base. You are given a choice of three randomly selected ones that have survivors already living in them at the start of this. These seem to be from a slightly smaller pool than the total ten or so, I think it picks three of about a potential five. From there, you basically survive until Breakdown’s main add-on begins, which is finding an RV or similar vehicle marked on the map, which allows you to escape your current area and move on to a refreshed map. It’s still the same valley, but with scavenge areas restocked.Read More

State of Decay | Review

Posted on July 28, 2013 by Les Major

State of Decay is a unique zombie survival adventure that mixes elements of Dead Rising with RTS ideas in an open world with safe house improvements. All of this adds up to a very enjoyable experience that can be approached several different ways. Sometimes you’ll find yourself using stealth to sneak past undead hordes, using bushes, similar to that of Assassin’s Creed; there will be other times when you’ll want to tackle a mission head on, and get into a vehicle to mow down the “Zeds”.

The story begins with two survivors up at a camping site in the northern section of the map. After being away for so long, they missed the undead outbreak, but you’re immediately put into combat, rushing to save your friend Ed. It works and quickly gets you into the action. Living Out Life In State Of Decay

Posted on June 28, 2013 by Les Major

I’ve had quite a bit of time now with State of Decay and it’s quite different from the demo once you get into the main bulk of the game. The intro can be compared almost do Dead Rising with scavenging while the main game itself is a bit more complex.

For one, the most important rule here is that once a character dies, they’re gone forever. So you might not want to get too attached to your survivors. Fortunately, if you do lose everyone, a seemingly random survivor is generated for you to take over. You may be tempted to restart the game over, but it’s actually probably best to push on and accept this as more of a story element.Read More

Phil Spencer Wears State Of Decay Teeshirt

Posted on June 10, 2013 by Les Major

During the intro to Ryse, which looks absolutely fantastic, Phil Spencer who is head of Microsoft Studios was wearing a State of Decay teeshirt. I realize this is really missing the point of the tons of news that was released during this press conference, but it was cool to see a nod to XBLA’s latest game by Undead Labs.

Of course, many of us are anticipating Last Of Us which releases tomorrow for PS3. It’s possible to speculate that State of Decay was a way for Microsoft Studios to give their fans a zombie game exclusive to their console. Especially considering it was released a week before Naughty Dogs huge triple-A title.Read More

Open World Zombie Game State Of Decay Now On XBLA

Posted on June 7, 2013 by Les Major

I’d heard of State Of Decay quite a bit ago and unfortunately it fell of my radar until I saw the release on XBLA yesterday. Eager to see how the game turned out, I set aside the title I had been playing and downloaded the demo. What Undead Labs has produced is an awesome open world game that after you try it out, you’ll see that the price is quite fair. I was skeptical at first, but there is a lot to do and the games progression keeps you interested.Read More

New State Of Decay Video Creeps In

Posted on April 16, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Undead Labs and Microsoft Studios have at least narrowed down the month for which the upcoming zombie survival game State Of Decay will release. June. I’m not sure if they are pushing for this to be in the yearly held Microsoft “Summer Of Arcade”, but it could be quite possible. To go along with the tentative release date, Undead Labs has also released a new video for State Of Decay…Read More
