Lego Fantastic Beasts Trailer

Releasing the same day as movie theaters bring viewers back into the Wizarding world that started in Harry Potter, Lego Dimensions is also getting swept up in the expanded universe adventure! The Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Story Pack will be available on November 18th. Story Packs are a new addition to this years Lego Dimensions line up. The first featured the 2016 Ghostbusters in a new six level adventure based on the movie. Fantastic Beasts follows suit with six levels based on the new movie, a free roam adventure world to explore, and a themed battle arena. These larger packs also include a replacement for the games portal build. So not only do you get a bunch of in game stuff to explore, you get a bunch of Lego to build a new back onto your Lego Dimensions portal!

Along with a Newt Scamander figure, you also get a creature multi build which can be turned into a Niffler, a Sinister Scorpion, or a Vicious Vulture. As with all multi build goodies, these do actually save to the figures base. So when you rebuild the creature figure, you can then place them on the games portal to save that builds data.

Personally I love when WB has releases like this. I remember long ago when Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King was released in theaters. After we’d watched the movie, I was able to surprise my wife with the video game out in the car. It’s fantastic having simultaneous releases like this.

Last night we were actually treated to a Fantastic Beasts event in downtown Toronto! As guests of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment we were able to check out some of the outfits from the movie on display and even play some multiplayer action in the battle arena this pack unlocks! We will have full coverage coming up soon on the event itself.

In the meantime, check out this Meet That Hero video featuring Gandalf introducing us to Fantastic Beasts!

Broken Bootlegs- Harry Potter MD

Harry Potter MD

Broken Bootlegs is a series covering unlicensed games (also known as bootleg games) for mainly 8-bit and 16-bit consoles. This week’s edition covers one of the Harry Potter games for the Mega Drive.

First off, I want to say , to possibly my family’s shock and horror, I’ve really never had any exposure to Harry Potter whatsoever when I was growing up. Save for this exception, I have yet to read nor see the series to this day. During my search of Mega Drive games more than a decade ago, I found a Harry Potter game, and thought to myself that this game might be a pirate or a bootleg. After starting up the game, I was greeted with the title Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen, which made me think it was possibly a German release. Unfortunately, it was followed by a bunch of Cryllic text,  so I honestly have no idea where this game came from. Off to a great start already, I delved into the game.

Wonderbook: Book of Spells | Review

Posted on December 3, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Hoo boy I was not looking forward to this one. Harry Potter is a huge phenomenon all over the world and that is so for many reasons. Today we’re not here to discuss the excellent novels or the pretty good movies, we’re here to talk about the terrible, terrible licence games. None of the harry potter games have ever risen above decent in terms of quality in my opinion and unfortunately, Wonderbook: Book of Spells might just be one of the worst entries in the whole franchise. This game is clunky, ill-designed, and most of all boring. As such something this bad rarely comes along, so kiddies without further ado, bring your beat-sticks, let’s get thrashing.Read More

Just because the long running series of films ended last year doesn’t mean Warner Bros can’t returnsto the Harry Potter universe with this fall’s release of Harry Potter Kinect. This latest trip to Hogwarts promises to revisit key moments from the entire eight book series.

Just how will Kinect spread the magic of Hogwarts? Players will be able to cast spells using physical gestures or by calling out the spell’s name using Kinect’s built in microphone.
