Rock Band 4 Continues to add more songs and content

Posted on November 23, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Live Life Like There’s No Tomorrow: Music from Van Halen Comes to Rock Band 4!

Harmonix is doing a good job supporting their newest rhythm product Rock Band 4. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends Van Halen is coming to the Rock Band Music Store for Xbox One and PlayStation  4 tomorrow, November 24! With more than 80 Million records sold Van Halen is no doubt one of the greatest Rock bands of all time. Their addition to the newest Rock Band game in the long running, much beloved series from Harmonix, was all but assured. Now you too can pretend to be Eddie Van Halen, or David Lee Roth, and get the feeling of being a rock star!

Since the end of the rhythm games era, Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live have been the only remaining competitors. Rock Band has elected to stick with a simpler DLC model, while Guitar Hero has decided to opt for a less traditional model of creation of a TV like service where songs simply play and you play along with them.  Personally I really like the ability to get DLC that I want or do not want. The flip side of this is that DLC obviously costs money, but at least with the choices of DLC you can decide what you want to pay for and what you don’t.

The full “Van Halen Hits Pack 01” can be purchased for $9.99, with singles available for download for $1.99 a track.

Rock Band Blitz Full Track List Released

Posted on August 16, 2012 by Les Major

I’ve seen lots of posts comparing Rock Band Blitz to the classic Amplitude, and if that turns out to be an accurate representation of the game I’m very much okay with that! Being released on August 28th on PSN and the next day for XBLA it looks like a fun addition to the series for $14.99 and 1200MSP respectively. Not only do you get the full set list shown below if you read more, but the included songs also play on Rockband 3 at no additional charge with full instrument support!

The following songs were just recently announced:

* Foo Fighters – “These Days”
* Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
* Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”
* Queen – “Death on Two Legs”
* Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away”
* Soundgarden – “Spoonman”

Posted on May 29, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Now that I’m all rested after taking a nice vacation last week with my lovely wife, I’m back and ready to play catch-up with the weekly DLC releases!  You’ll also notice that I’ve settled on a name for these features – you can now call these posts “The Soundcheck!”

So for last week’s DLC we got a mega-pack of Iron Maiden epics under the appropriate title “Maiden Epics” in the Rock Band store.  The tracks are as follows:

The Top 5 Songs That Would Get Me To Spend Money On Rock Band

Posted on May 21, 2012 by Andrew Minott

I have a love/hate relationship with Rock Band.

That’s not exactly accurate.

When it first came out, I hated it (because I hated Guitar Hero). Then in early 2008 I moved into a house with three other guys, and they all loved Rock Band. And then I did too. Now I haven’t touched it in two years, though I remember the time we spent together fondly. So really, my relationship with Rock Band is hate/love/sexless marriage. Those two years ago, I bought the Lady Gaga track pack (don’t judge me) and the AFI Crashlove pack (I SAID DON’T). Since then, though, I haven’t noticed anything that has been put up on the marketplace that would inspire an end to my music game famine.

So what would it take?Read More

Hello out there!  This is the first of a series of weekly mini-reviews for the DLC that is released each week for Rock Band.  As I am just starting these out, I’m open to comments and suggestions, if you guys want to see things in a different format or what have you.  I’d also like to brand these things with a catchy title, and I’m open to suggestions on that front too!  So thanks in advance for reading and if you have any comments, please leave them below in the comments section or feel free to email me at jesselord@brokenjoysticks.net.  Cool!  So without further ado, let’s get started!

Rock Band Blitz – No Rock Band 3 Disc Export

Posted on April 4, 2012 by Jesse Lord

For those about to rock, we salute you.

Some more information is coming out of the woodwork regarding Rock Band Blitz, the recently-announced next title from Harmonix.  The premise is a relatively simple one – you get to play a rhythm game in the style of Amplitude or Frequency but with Rock Band branding.  That means you don’t have to worry about lugging those fake plastic instruments out of the closet to play this one.  Word got out that all of your Rock Band tracks would be playable in this title, and that was cause for much rejoicing.  Even greater than that, it was also revealed that the ~25 tracks that come included with Rock Band Blitz would also be playable within Rock Band 3 as DLC!  That is a big selling point in my opinion.

Some further information about the Rock Band tracks’ compatibility with Blitz has come out, as Harmonix has confirmed that the Rock Band 3 on-disc tracks will not be compatible with Rock Band Blitz.  This is due to the fact that those games are on-disc and not on the hard drive itself.  When asked if a future paid-export to the hard drive was a possibility, a Harmonix representative stated that they had no plans at this time.
