Our massive holiday giveaway is not only starting EARLY but we’re expanding it. We’ve got almost 50 codes to give away, over $500* worth of free games for you, our readers and we’re going to start things off right, with a little bit of a mystery.
Each week day from now until January 10th we are going to be giving away one digital game (usually through steam) to our lucky readers who either read our facebook page, @brokenjoysticsks on twitter or send an email to contests @brokenjoysticks.net.
Today’s giveaway is… *drumroll* 3 copies of The Testament of Sherlock Holmes for Windows PC. All three codes have been given away. Look for more codes on Monday!
Note: * These codes were provided either by developers or Broken Joysticks staff. Please consider them a gift and they carry no retail value. Contest eligibility: You must have a working twitter facebook or email account. If you use social media we ask that you are following us in order to be considered for the giveaway. Winners will be included in the following days post and the deadline is midnight Eastern Standard time, at that time codes will be sent out.Posted in: News, PC Tags: Contest, Free Stuff, Great Holiday Giveaway, PC, sherlock holmes, Steam
The holidays are a great time to be a gamer, as a child you get to wait for your favorite game with anticipation, hoping that it is wrapped under the tree. As an adult you either get to be selfish and play Assassin’s Creed III for two straight days or ya know visit family. We here at Broken Joysticks might not be knee deep in games due to the annual slowdown but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to give you something. That is why we are launching the first Broken Joysticks Great Holiday Give Away.
During the next two weeks (December 24th thru January 4th) we will be giving away over 20 steam codes for popular games. Each day we’ll run at least one contest on our front-page similar to the Skyrim Giveaway from last week, picking a winner from either Facebook or Twitter! Ok, we’re officially to the end of our Skyrim giveaway contest. MAJOR thanks go out to Bethesda for not only providing the copies of Skyrim and Dragonborn DLC, but for also giving us a shout-out on the official Elder Scrolls Twitter account. While our site quickly tapped out under the huge and sudden influx of visitors hoping to score the game, we got the word out via our Facebook page as well as our Twitter page.
We had an influx of tweets all asking for either the full version on PC, or the DLC for the 360. Our Twitter following more than tripled in a very short timeframe! After counting the number of unique entries, we then used a random number generator to get our two winners. And without further ado, the winners are….Posted in: Microsoft, PC, Sony Tags: bethesda softworks, Contest, Elder Scrolls, Give Away, Skyrim
The staff looked at the entries and chosen the winners of our HOI3: Their Finest Hour contest. Before handing out the prizes, we’d like to thank Monty the wargaming bulldog and Paradox Interactive for making this possible. Read on to learn who won. Monty, Broken Joysticks’ official wargaming bulldog, has just secured some copies of the latest HOI 3 expansion, Their Finest Hour, to giveaway to our readers. I understand that his meticulous planning allowed him to succeed in an amphibious landing near Stockholm where, after a visit to the Vasa, he liberated some Steam codes from Paradox Interactive.
We have 7 steam codes for Their Finest Hour and 5 steam codes for The Hearts of Iron 3 Collection (which includes the base game and expansions needed to play the game). Monty also scored two copies of Crusader Kings 2. This sounds like a good excuse for a contest.
One of the new features in their Finest Hour (or at least new to HOI3) is the ability for your commanders to gain traits through combat. In order to enter our contest tell us (in the comments) what trait you deserve and why. For instance you could claim the right to be a Ranger because you are really into Lord of the Rings cosplay. The winners will be announced on Monday. You may see a full list of the leader traits after the jump. It’s time for our last Penny Arcade Episode 3 code give away. This time we’re not pulling any punches, no removed letters or numbers just a good old fashioned first come first served contest. Those who are quick on the draw will be able to claim this code.

Psssst… did you know we reviewed Penny Arcade on the Precipice of Darkness: Episode 3? We enjoyed it so much we’re giving away two copies of the game today through our news articles. The first steam code for the game is below, at the end of the article. The second code will be hidden in another article later today.
This contest is a little different from the previous ones, that ran last month. To prevent bots from copying/claiming the code we’ve removed two numbers (1 – 9) in the code sequence. If you fill in the right numbers you too can play Penny Arcade Episode 3.

We’ve decided to reboot our Gears of War 3 contest. In retrospect, starting such a contest in the first week of our existence was a bad call. Also, the requirements and the mountain of legalese were probably unhelpful.
Here is the new setup for the contest. We’ll give away 3 copies of Gears of War 3 once we’ve reached 500 likes on Facebook. After that number has been reached, people will have a few days to enter our drawing via our Facebook page. We will, naturally, make an announcement on the site with further details when that occurs.
The prizes will be three copies of Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360. Two of these will be autographed by the good people at Epic Games. The only requirements for entry are that you must live in North America and you agree that we are not liable for any problems with shipping. Contrary to popular opinion, Broken Joysticks does not secretly control the US postal service. We’d also appreciate it if you were over 18, because I don’t want to receive any angry letters from outraged parents. I receive enough of those as is.

I don’t know about you, but I tend to procrastinate a lot. For instance, I’ve just started my spring cleaning. It probably won’t be finished until September.
In honor of my cleaning efforts, we’re giving away copies of the indie game DustForce, where you play as a really acrobatic janitor. There are 50 perilous levels to clean up, so I guess this counts as a hardcore janitor simulator. You can find steam codes for the game in our articles, Steam group, Facebook, or Twitter.Posted in: Site News Tags: Contest, DustForce, giveaway, Indie, Steam
