Bethesda Reveals Hi Res Texture Pack For Fallout 4, Lists Unannounced AMD Graphics Card In Requirements

Posted on January 30, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bethesda has announced that both a high resolution texture pack for Fallout 4 on PC and support for the PlayStation Pro will be coming next week to the Boston wastes. The most interesting thing from their announcement has actually been pulled – the recommended requirement of a AMD 490 graphics card , a card which up as of right now does not exist.

Perhaps the 490 listing was an error, or perhaps it really was a slip-up as AMD has not launched a new GPU since this past summer when they released the RX 480,  470 and 460. To utilize the high resolution texture pack PC players will have to make sure they have an addition 58 GBs of available storage – that is larger than the base installation of the game!

Here is how Bethesda described the new high res pack:

“We’re excited to announce the release of the game’s High-Resolution Texture Pack. Consider this free download a love letter to our amazing PC fans that have supported us – not just with Fallout 4, but across multiple decades and games.”

Kotaku was able to copy the minimum requirements listing the unannounced AMD card before the page was changed. Interestingly neither set of requirements recommend that you use an AMD CPU for playing with the high resolution pack, again not surprising since the Ryzen line of processes is expected to be released next month and the aging Bulldozer successors probably aren’t up to the task.

Delisted Minimum Specs:

  • Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
  • Intel Core i7-5820K or better
  • GTX 1080 8GB/AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB
  • 8GB+ Ram

Also coming next week will be added mod support for PlayStation 4, with more information on that coming soon, as well as PlayStation 4 Pro support that adds much requested features like enhanced draw distance.

Here’s Bethesda’s description of the PlayStation 4 Pro support including features:

Beginning next week, Fallout 4’s Update 1.9 on PlayStation 4 adds support for the power of the PlayStation 4 Pro console. The update provides enhanced lighting and graphic features, including:

  • Native 1440p resolution
  • Enhanced draw distance for trees, grass, objects and NPCs
  • Enhanced Godray effects”

Rocket League Gets New Rumble Mode

Posted on September 8, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Psyonix’s surprise summer hit from 2015 recieves a brand new “rumble mode” that provides players with a whole new set of power-ups. 11 new randomized power-up give players new abilities that drastically changes how the rocket powered soccer title is played.

If you’re getting flashback to older racing titles from the 90s that included outrageous power-ups, like Extreme-G for the Nintendo 64, don’t worry you’re not alone. Here is a list of all of the power-ups available to players in the new “rumble mode”.

  • The Boot (Kicks an opponent’s car)
  • Disruptor (Forces the opponent to drive uncontrollably)
  • Freezer (Freezes the ball in-place)
  • Grappling Hook (Pulls you toward the ball)
  • Haymaker (Punches the ball)
  • Magnetizer (Attracts the ball to your car)
  • Plunger (Snaps the ball to your position)
  • Power Hitter (Hit everything harder)
  • Spike (Attach the ball to your car when you bump into it)
  • Swapper (Change positions on the field with your opponent)
  • Tornado (Sweep up the ball and cars into a giant funnel cloud)

Today’s update also introduces the “Crates & Keys” system that will allow players to unlock new skins and cosmetics through keys that are purchasable through optional micro-transaction. “Crate & Keys” is a similar micro-transaction model as popularized by Valve’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive and does not affect the core gameplay experience of Rocket League.  Keys will be sold for $1.49 USD for 1 or in bundles of 5, 10 or 20. Profits from the “Crate & Keys” system will be used to fund future e-sports prize pools for the Rocket League community.

The Guitar Hero TV service allows players to select content from a number of different themed  “channels” providing them with new content that rotates in and out of circulation similar to how songs are played on radio stations. New tracks are introduced in “premium shows” which typically will run for about a week. On-demand tracks on GHTV are selectable by either using an in-game currency or a real world micro-transaction.

Activision will be running a promotion from Friday November 6th thru Sunday November 8th which will allow all Guitar Hero Live players to access GHTV without paying either premium or in-game currency.

Rocket league to get mutators with free DLC

Posted on October 29, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Our oppinions here at brokenjoysticks on Rocket League are well known, our review posted here was glowing to say the least. So any time we hear about DLC or new content for that game we get EXTREMELY excited. So what could make an already amazing game where you shoot around in cars that have rockets even more amazing? The answer lies in Mutators

[youtube id=”cEH2hUw-d_U”]

Mutators at first seem simple, you can change all sorts of things, the size of the ball, the gravity in the field, the shape of the ball (is it still a ball if its square? I DONT KNOW) etc. Some that we know about already include: Cube (turns ball in to a cube), Moonball (lowers gravity), and Time warp (presumably warps time?) The new modifiers will appear in custom games and in a rotating playlist called unsurprisingly Mutator Mashup. I personally cant wait to get my hands on these game modes, the basic mode of rocket league was always where I had the most fun, and this will add so much more. Plus its bound to make it easier right? no i guess probably not, but thats the fun isint it?

Also announced is a hockey mode for later on in December. The Mutator DLC is free and will be available in the coming weeks. An additional preview will be provided today via a live stream.
