Destiny | Review

Posted on November 5, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Version Tested: PlayStation 3

Destiny quickly become one of the most pre-ordered titles in recent memory and of course it was backed by one of the largest marketing campaigns we’ve seen in a while for a videogame. Needless to say expectations for Bungie’s first post-Halo release reached into the stratosphere and after playing Destiny for quite some time I’m ready to render my verdict. Should you forge ahead into the stars and join the ranks of the Guardians or pass at being an interstellar savior?Read More

Become a Legend With The Destiny Launch Trailer

Posted on September 9, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bungie’s latest title – the  MMO/FPS hybrid Destiny – is now available through both physical and digital retailers. To celebrate Activision released a live action trailer. This live action trailer was directed by Josepth Kosinki whom is probably most well known for helming TRON: legacy. He’s coupled his live action trailer with some Led Zepplin , which if you ask me is a pretty awesome choice.

Activision is trumpeting Destiny as “the most pre-ordered new video game IP” and according to them over 4 million people participated in the in the game’s beta this past July. Players take on the role of a Guardian on the last city on Earth. Adventures aren’t just limited to this planet of ours – the interactive world promises to span the stars with missions located on Mars!

Check out the live action trailer in the player below. Activision has provided Broken Joysticks with a PS3 copy of Destiny and we will be posting our full review in the coming weeks.

Bungie Showcases First Gameplay For Destiny

Posted on June 11, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

At Sony’s E3 press conference last night former Halo developers, Bungie, took the stage to show off their latest title, the persistent online world of Destiny. They also released a brief three minute trailer this morning, if you’d like a condensed look at how the game will run on the PlayStation 4.  Bungie’s E3 demonstration is great, though, featuring over ten minutes of never before seen gameplay. There’s lots of large flashy guns, sci-fi enemies oh and our first look at how instances (called ‘Public Events’) will work in Destiny.

The world of Destiny takes you hundreds of years into the future, after an apocalyptic event, a period of development of great technological advancement, three of mankind’s colonies have collapsed.  Within the walls of the last human city an alien being, known as The Traveler, bestows upon you a great power.

We’ve included both the brief trailer and the full demonstration from Sony’s press conference after the jump. Destiny  has no solid release date outside of a ‘2014’ window, as presented at Sony’s event last night.

Bungie Set To Reveal Project Destiny At GDC?

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Joshua Rust

With the 2013 Game Developers Conference (GDC) right around the corner, it seems that Bungie may finally be ready to reveal project “Destiny” to some capacity. Hosting their own presentation dubbed “Brave New World”, Bungie writer/design director Joe Staten and art director Christopher Barrett will finally offer “a glimpse of the brave new world that has been built”.

While some concept art was leaked a while back, not much is known about Destiny. We all have been eager to see what Bungie has been up to since wrapping up with the Halo franchise. Well, we are just a few months away to see what Bungie has been up to.

The GDC schedule details an overview of what the Brave New World presentation will contain:

“Two decades of success in the gaming industry is no small feat, but after ten years of Halo, Bungie found themselves faced with a tremendous challenge: to build a whole new world, filled with even more amazing mysteries, places, creatures, and opportunities for player investment.”

“For the first time ever, Bungie creative directors will discuss their world building techniques, from concept to production. Attendees will walk away with key insights into Bungie’s battle-tested design process. They’ll get a glimpse of the brave new world that has been built, a place where the next ten years of great Bungie adventures will unfold.”

So  yeah, it’s an understatement when I say that we are excited to see what Bungie has been up to. There’s no doubt that Destiny has the potential to be the next Halo franchise. Question is, is Destiny multiplatform, Microsoft exclusive, or a disappointing announcement of a browser based game….

Well, for their sake it better not be the latter…
