Final Nintendo Power Issue Cover Revealed

After twenty-four years of insightful first-hand information about your favorite Nintendo games, and the countless previews, reviews, tips and tricks from the sources, Nintendo Power has finally come to an end. The final issue’s cover made its way to the Internet (the very entity that undoubtedly defeat Nintendo Power but alas) via Twitter, and it’s clear that Issue 285 decided to end the long-standing magazine the way it began: A brilliant clay model of Nintendo’s renowned hero making an adventurous leap for one last time.

Nintendo Requests Not To Turn Off Your Wii U While Updating

You’ve probably seen in any number of games, or even on your PC not to turn it off while updating or saving. Nintendo is reminding users however due to the lengthy initial update for the Wii U. They “highly recommend that any Wii U owner does not stop the system update while in progress.” Updating may take an hour or more the first time depending on your internet speed. Powering off during this may damage your system. The update enables numerous features including Miiverse, Wii U Chat, the eShop, and the ability to download video-on-demand applications.

Rara.com Streaming Music Service – Mini Review

You can listen to Halo 4’s soundtrack on Rara.com so this is counts as video game news. This service was something I never knew I wanted. Recently, Microsoft launched their Xbox Music service and I decided to give that a go. Playing tons of albums I wanted on my Xbox seemed great, so I gave it a try on a desktop computer figuring that with all the mobile options surely there would be a PC option. Oh there is, for Windows 8 only. So that’s how I ended up searching and found Rara.com was available in Canada.

Wii U Does Not Support Achievements

Thinking of signing up and start raking up achievements? Not so fast there. Nintendo does not currently support a universe achievement feature in the Wii U. Jeremiah Slaczka, the creative director and co-founder of the studio 5TH Cell posted on the popular video game forum NeoGAF earlier this week. In the post, he makes mention that the Nintendo Wii U will not be supporting a universal achievement system on the Wii U saying: Scribblenauts Unlimited loosely has them in the form of ‘Global Starite Shards’ which is like a giant checklist of global things to spawn and do in the game

Retailers Recieving Arkham City Armored Edition Soon

In a press release issued today, Warner Bros. announced that the Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition is shipping to retailers today in preparation for launch with the Wii-U system on November 18th.  Those unfamiliar with Nintendo will scratch their heads at the Sunday release date, however, that is simply how Nintendo rolls as it pertains to system launches.  So are you expecting to pick up this refresh of the hit 2011 title with all-new Wii-U functionality?  Let us know in the comments below!  Full press release below, after the jump.

New Trailer for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for WiiU

Sega of America released the brand-new trailer for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, this time specifically dedicated to the WiiU version. While at first glance this game seems to look on par with the current generation consoles’ version, Sumo Digital has made it quite clear to utilize the WiiU Gamepad as much as possible. There might be some exclusive features that may feel a bit too unnecessary, but without revealing too much from the trailer, the idea of  five-player multiplayer is on the level for something great. Regardless of the newly implemented WiiU features, this trailer proves that Nintendo better

New Skyrim DLC – Dragonborn

Just a quick post to get this new trailer in front of your faces!  Straight from Bethesda comes this trailer for Dragonborn, the next DLC package for Skyrim.  I’ll not sully up the post with extraneous words here; straight to the video! Closure of Broken Joysticks Forums

Our forums will be riding off into the sunset tomorrow… Here’s the announcement: Phase out of Community Forums Effective November 1st the BrokenJoysticks community forums will no longer be active. We appreciate everyone who took the time to sign up and enjoy during this two month trial run. As a staff we learned quite a bit about what goes into fostering and maintaining a successful community.
