Posted on January 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

It’s just one week away!

Next Tuesday, players will be able to transform into 11 classic FINAL FANTASY characters featured in the upcoming multiplayer action role-playing adventure FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS. During battle, while in Trance Mode, players can harness the incredible power of legendary FINAL FANTASY characters and utilize their ultimate attacks.

Clever use of the Trance system is one of the keys to defeating foes. The full infographic detailing the characters can be viewed below.

Fans will recognize the popular moves of their favorite characters, including Cloud’s Omnislash (FINAL FANTASY VII), Terra’s Riot Blade (FINAL FANTASY VI) and Tidus’ Blitz Ace (FINAL FANTASY X). Players can unlock the characters by speaking to the local town moogles for rare quests that reward special character magicites, which you can equip at the town’s central crystal.

Latest Humble Weekly Bundle Features Firaxis Games

Posted on January 19, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Humble Bundle have teamed up with Firaxis Games to offer up a tiered discount on a number of their games including last year’s Civilization: Beyond Earth and its Rising Tides DLC. If turned based strategy is your jam and you don’t own some of these excellent games like Xcom: Enemy Unknown then this might be the bundle for you.

The $1 bundle will net you 2012’s Xcom reboot as well as several older titles. The BTA (beat the average) price gets you some DLC to augment your Enemy Unknown experience as well as the critically acclaimed Enemy Within expansion. 2010’s Civilization V is also included in the BTA tier but unfortunately it doesn’t include any of the games’ DLC. Civ V is probably the one game out of all of the ones on offer that I’ve spent the most time with.

Of course all of these bundles come with the previous tiered titles – Example: Buy the BTA tier and you’ll also get the games in the $1 tier. Also all of these games require Steam in order for you to play them.

$1 Tier

  • Xcom: Enemy Unknown
  • Sid Meier’s Pirates!
  • Ace Patrol Bundle
  • Civilization 3 Complete

Beat The Average Tier (currently $9 USD)

  • Civilization IV Complete
  • Civilization V Base Game
  • Sid Meir’s Starships
  • Two X-Com: Enemy Unknown DLC Packs
  • Xcom: Enemy Within

$15 or More

  • Civilization: Beyond Earth
  • Civilization: Beyond Earth Exo Planets DLC
  • 33% off voucher for Rising Tides DLC

Thrive Games, an independent game developer based out of Hamilton, Ontario, launched a Kickstarter campaign today to help fund their first project Dragon of Legends. The game is an action based MMORPG for PC, Mac, and Mobile platforms heavily influenced by the mythic cycle of Gaelic Ireland and Norse mythology, where the lights of faeries border the realms of darkness.

The developers at Thrive Games are looking for the necessary additional financial assistance to finalize an open beta that everyone can start playing. Since launching the campaign just a few short hours ago, the Kickstarter has already generated just over $1,600 of their $60,000 goal.

The team has been developing the project for the past year and a half and the game has even been a featured project on the Square Enix Collective last year.

After that crash of the late 70s, Nintendo revitalized the industry in the 1980s and found themselves alone on the mountain top with everyone else aspiring to take their spot. Sega, Sony, and even Microsoft would eventually try to dethrone Nintendo. The competition would lead to an unprecedented amount of innovation and competition that was good for the consumer. Now as the age of VR dawns, I ask, is it time for another (VR) console war?Read More

Posted on January 19, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Two weeks ago while pursuing the online computer classifieds I came across something I didn’t think I’d see locally for some time, an Oculus VR headset at a reasonable price. After the announcement that Oculus wanted $600 USD for the upcoming consumer version (known as CV1 in the Oculus community) I figured my dreams of trying modern VR were all but washed away, except for maybe the odd industry convention for the foreseeable future. Here are three things that I’ve learned after acquiring and using my Oculus DK1 for more than a week.Read More
