Video Game Music – Volume 1

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Jason Bassett

There is a number of different elements that make up a video game. One is obviously the gameplay. Two would be the pretty images that you see on your screen. But there is one area where many people are finally getting to notice: the music.

Video game music has, for a long time, but one of my most favorite parts of a video game. Of course, this applies to movies as well, but video games have been truly unique in the way music has been presented over the years. So much, that a music genre spawned from the type of music that video games have represented over the years: Chiptunes. Of course, music have evolved so much since the days of the 8 bit processor. Today, a lot of music takes it’s steps from its roots and goes into hollywood.

The effect today gives us a great, emotional and riveting sound in our years that we became accustomed to and many people today will even by the soundtracks for the games. During the course of my time as gamer, there have been plethora of music that I have listen to and loved. Today, Broken Joysticks give you, our lovely readers, a new look at music and to give the player and music lover in your, a whole new world to love in video games.Read More

Ghost Recon Future Soldier Enlists On Windows PC

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier has been available for home consoles since last month but now the game has deployed onto a whole new platform, Windows PC. Bringing with it a whole new array of PC exclusive features such as volume metric lighting, soft shadows and most importantly DirectX 11 support.

If you’re ready to suit up and join the fight the game has some impressive multiplayer modes created by Red Storm Entertainment, the original developers of the Rainbow Six Franchise.  The game’s multiplayer modes include classic six on six death match, objective and more. Perhaps the coolest mode, at least to me, is  Guerrilla mode which pits for people against waves of enemies similar to the horde mode founding Gears of War.

You’ll be able to find the game on your favorite digital distribution service starting today. For the full list of PC exclusive features and click the jump.Read More

SEGA Releases London Olympics 2012 for PS3 & 360

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Now you can run the Olympic torch all the way across Europe in the comfort of your home with the release of London 2012: The Official Videogame from Sega. The game replicates the London 2012 experience allowing players to fill their dreams of Olympic glory through either quick play (featuring various Olympic sports) or a full career mode.

London 2012 isn’t a single player only affair either, the game supports PlayStation move and Microsoft Kinect, as well as local play for multiple people. I mean who wouldn’t want to re-create the hundred meter dash in their living room – that isn’t so you run into the family pet or knock over your television.

The game will be available on June 26 for the PlayStation three and Xbox 360 in North America and on June 28 and 29th in Europe.

Final Fantasy XI has been online for almost a decade with thousands of players logging into the world of Vana’diel to take up arms. During the opening remarks at this year’s Vanafest in Japan Square-Enix CEO Yoichi Wada noted that the game is now the most profitable in the series’ 22 year run.

He said:

Far Cry 3 Delayed In North America & Europe

Posted on June 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bad news for all of you would-be island infiltrators. Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Far Cry 3  has been delayed in both North America and Europe. Instead of shipping in first week of September the game will now launch on November 29 in Europe and December 4th in the United States & Canada.

This delay is not believed to be due to any last minute development hitches, as the press release states that Far Cry 3 will have a positive impact on the companies bottom line for 2012. Perhaps it has been delayed to maximize sales? Whatever the reason just be glad this one didn’t slip into 2013 like Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider did earlier this month.
