Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones Takes PvP Action To The High Seas

Posted on June 12, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft announced a brand new IP at their E3 press conference this afternoon, the swashbuckling multiplayer title Skull & Bones. Players try to work their way up the pirate food chain to amass riches across multiple trade routes on the Indian Ocean as a freelance pirate captian. Taking place in an online open world that is persistent – the obstacles players have to face are ever changing – whether those are raging storms, rough seas or other pirates looking to sink their ship.

Players will create their own custom pirate avatar through a character creator and can play by themselves, solo, or group up with up to three friends for some high seas adventures. Like last year’s Division, Skull & Bones will offer both Player Vs Player combat and Player Vs Environment activities to enjoy. PVP is not turned on by default (like in The Division) there is a specific area of the map, called Disputed Waters, where it is permissible to sink another captain’s vessel. Ships will come in three sizes according to Ubisoft – Frigate, Brigantine and Sloop-of-War. Each type of ship has its’ own drawbacks and advantages so captains will have to build their armada will some strategy in mind.

Skull & Bones is being developed by multi Ubisoft affiliated studios including Ubisoft Singapore as the lead studio, Ubisoft Chngdu in China and Blue Byte in Mainz, Germany.  It is due out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It will have support for PlayStation Pro and Xbox One X enhancements. Interested freelance pirates can sign-up at the official website to be put in the queue for an upcoming technical test.

Ubisoft bring Mario+Rabbids tactic game to Switch

Posted on June 12, 2017 by Jason Nason

Ubisoft announced on Monday during their media presentation that they are teaming up with Nintendo to bring a new game to the Switch. The game has been a work in progress for about three years and was finally unveiled today.

The world of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is full of zany characters, luscious environments, and crazy worlds to explore. Today, we’ll be giving you a glimpse of the Ancient Gardens world.

Ancient Gardens is the first world that you’ll encounter on your journey through Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. As its name implies, it is a mystical place full of foliage, creatures, gorgeous water and well….since the Rabbids came to town, a few funky structures, amongst other oddities.

The Garden itself used to be a peaceful, tranquil place, where Goombas would roam the lands in grumpy bliss. Now though, the pesky Rabbids have stormed the place and painted the area in their specific brand of chaos, and of course, it’s up to you and your squad to take the power back!

ARK Survival Evolved Launching This August With Two Special Editions

Posted on June 12, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Studio Wildcard will be bringing the prehistoric survival game ARK: Survival Evolved out of the Early Access age with the release of the retail version on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on August 8th. ARK on personal computers will be available for multiple operating systems including Microsoft Windows,  MAC OS and various flavors of Linux.

Three different editions of ARK: Survival Evolved will be available for Xbox One and PS4 and are available for pre-order the company announced. They are:

ARK Survival Evolved Standard Edition – $59.99 USD

  • Includes the base ARK experience.
  • Access to all free content and updates that have been released to date.

ARK: Survival Evolved Explorers Edition  – $99.99 USD

  • Includes base ARK experience.
  • Provides access to the Scorched Earth expansion pack which was released last September.
  • Provides access to future expansion passes via an included Season’s Pass.
  • More content packs are promised for the Explorers Edition later this year and into 2018.

ARK Survival Evolved – Limited Collector’s Edition – $159.99 USD

  • Includes base ARK Experience.
  • Scorched Earth Expansion.
  • Season’s Pass.
  • ARK Island cloth map replica.
  • ARK Necklace.
  • Survival Evolved soundtrack as performed by the Philarmonica Orchestra.
  • Studio Wildcard development team poster.
  • Leather- bound Explorer’s Notebook.

With three different versions it might get a little confusing for new players to know exactly which version of ARK to pick up. Surely only the hardest of hardcore fans will choose to purchase the Limited Collector’s Edition since, as the name implies, it will be manufactured in limited quantities. Early Access backers such as myself seem to be funneled into the Standard Edition, this makes sense – Scorched Earth has always been add-on DLC since day one. Studio Wildcard promises that even the base ARK experience will provide players with 100s of hours of entertainment.
