3D Remastered Sonic the Hedgehog on the Way

Posted on December 3, 2013 by Jason Nason

The next game coming in the SEGA 3D Classics series for the 3DS eShop has been revealed and it’s Sonic the Hedgehog from the Sega Genesis. The first two games in the set were released just last week in 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On. Sonic seems like the next logical step to get the 3D treatment.

The game is likely still a ways off from being released, but SEGA put up a lenghty blog post today with an interview from the developers of the project.

Yousuke Okunari, a producer at SEGA, had this to say about the project on the blog. “So far with the 3D Remaster Project, we’ve put out Space Harrier and Super Hang-on. People might have been looking forward to another arcade cabinet game port, but our next release is actually a stereoscopic 3D adaptation of Sonic The Hedgehog.”

“As we discussed in our previous interviews, our previous two releases were games where the player “scrolls into the screen”, something easy for anyone to imagine in 3D. But for the next game, we wanted to put out a game that people wouldn’t expect to see in 3D. With that in mind, we considered multiple titles and in the end we chose Sonic’s debut game, because there’s nothing more SEGA than that.”

Starbound Beta Available Tomorrow

Posted on December 3, 2013 by Les Major

What is Starbound? Imagine having randomly created worlds to explore that you can visit in your space ship in a Terraria like fashion of gameplay. Creatures and weapons are even procedurally generated to give the alien worlds a truly unexpected and explorable feeling. On top of that, of course you can build your own structures like in Terraria and Minecraft. Sound fantastic? We certainly think it sounds like it! There’s even quests to complete to keep you busy.

Currently Starbound is available to pre-order on both the main Starbound website and on the newly created Humble Store (by the creators of Humble Bundle). Each store offers a $15 version, but the official site also has additional tiers you can buy into as well!

Tomorrow, Starbound will be coming to Steam’s early access program. Of course as with any beta game, go easy on it since it is still in production. However from the recent article on Starbound’s website, the beta version looks quite functional.

We’ve kept an eye on this title for a long time and we’re definitely looking forward to it’s release!

Skylanders Swap Force | Review

Posted on December 3, 2013 by Les Major

One of the biggest misconceptions of Skylanders is that it’s a game just for kids. The fact is that these titles have a ton of quality built into them and while some of the cutscenes may feel youth oriented at times, they tend to be enjoyable for all audiences. This is no small cast either, with the voice of Invader Zim (Richard Steven Horvitz) as your nemesis and Joe Swanson from Family Guy (Patrick Warburton) playing your friend Flynn, and that’s just to name a few! This is a professional, polished production.

Gameplay isn’t a kids button masher either. Skylanders in Swap Force gain experience, level up to level 20, and collect coins to purchase new moves. Best of all, the multitude of figures available are all quite unique in the different ways they attack. Some have moves that are more focused on motion while others are defensive skills. So if you haven’t checked the game out yet, and can resist spending beyond your means on getting only the figures you really need, the games come highly recommended.Read More
