Virtua Tennis Is The Next Dreamcast Game To Be Added to SEGA Forever

Posted on July 13, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

SEGA proves that it’s still thinking when it comes to adding Dreamcast games to their new SEGA Forever service with their latest announcement. Okay, Okay – silly references to long dead advertising slogans aside – players on Android and iOS will soon be able to hit the tennis court for free with the addition of Virtua Tennis Challenge to existing line-up.

Virtua Tennis Challenge is heavily based on the home console release of Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast from 2000 but has been modified to work within the restrictions of mobile devices. Featuring 18 different stadiums and a number of different tennis maneuvers such as the power shot – this mobile port provides enough content for hours of on the court action.

Previously priced at $4.99 USD, Virtua Tennis Challenge can be played for free with occasional ads or upgraded to the add free experience for just $1.99 USD. We’ve covered quite a few of SEGA’s recent re-releases and updates through SEGA Forever – which included a fantastic port of 2000’s Crazy Taxi by the way. No word on if all of the SEGA Forever titles will be updated to support 64-bit iOS versions, as Apple is de-listi32-bitbit applications this September with the debut of iOS 11.

SEGA Forever Brings 5 Classic Titles To Mobile For Free

Posted on June 21, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

SEGA has announced the rumored SEGA Forever, a mobile-centric collection of classic titles spanning over 20 years of releases and three console generations.  With 5 SEGA exclusive Genesis titles available at launch – Sonic The Hedgehog, Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II, Altered Beast and Kid Chameleon – there’s quite a few different genres represented. SEGA Forever games support features like cloud saves, Bluetooth controllers, save states and offline play regardless of the player’s advertising status. As with the Crazy Taxi port released a couple of weeks ago – games in SEGA Forever collection will be supported by periodic in-game advertisements, however, these can be removed for $1.99 USD per title.

SEGA is promising to release more classic titles from the Master Drive, Genesis, Saturn and even 1999’s Dreamcast (a personal favorite) at some point down the line.  Players should expect new releases every two weeks or so but SEGA has not yet confirmed any future titles for the service.

Check out some media below and make sure to check the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for SEGA Forever when it launches tomorrow.
