Runbow’s release date for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 postponed

Posted on April 23, 2018 by Jason Nason

Headup Games and 13AM Games announced today that colorful racing chaotic party game Runbow will be postponed for some weeks in order to further optimize the game’s performance.

Runbow delayed in both the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop. The same may apply to the retail Runbow Deluxe Edition, due to the digital shift this date will probably shift back a bit as well. The Deluxe Edition will include all DLCs and nice physical goodies.

Runbow features an eye-catching color mechanic that has racers brawl amongst each other while objects and platforms appear or disappear based on the continually changing background color. All multiplayer modes can be played by up to 9 players simultaneously online, while it features 8-player local multiplayer madness on Nintendo Switch as well as 4 player local chaos on PlayStation 4.

Yoku’s Island Express dated for May 29th

Posted on April 20, 2018 by Jason Nason

Villa Gorilla has a delightful looking pinball platform adventure, Yoku’s Island Express, which will be launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on the May 29th.

Yoku the dung beetle has arrived on Mokumana Island to take over the role of postmaster and he’s ready for the easy life, soaking up the sun and delivering parcels on a tropical paradise!

However, an ancient island deity is trapped in a restless sleep – and it’s all down to Yoku to traverse the island using a unique blend of pinball mechanics, platforming and open world exploration, in an amazing adventure to help those in need!

In an interesting mechanic, you will flip and bump the pint-sized protagonist around the stunning hand-painted island on your quest to rebuild the post-office and wake an old god from its slumber.

The game mechanics somewhat reminds me of the way Kirby’s Canvas Curse for the Nintendo DS had gamers controlling Kirby by manipulating the environment by drawing on the screen.

Yoku’s Island Express is rolling on to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on the May 29th and will be priced at $19.99 USD.

NBA Playgrounds 2 announced for Switch/PS4/Xbox One

Posted on April 18, 2018 by Jason Nason

Saber Interactive revealed on Tuesday that NBA Playgrounds 2, the next installment in the arcade-sports franchise, is coming later this year.

NBA Playgrounds 2 raises the intensity of the series’ over-the-top, two-on-two street action with a new line-up of online and local multiplayer game modes, as well as new courts from playgrounds across the world.

Playgrounds Championship mode introduces a new worldwide ranked league system, featuring multiple competitive solo and co-op division ladders for players to climb. Season mode is a new single-player experience that recreates the feeling of leading a team through the regular season, playoffs, and, ultimately, the NBA Championship itself. There’s also improved matchmaking with dedicated servers, the arrival of four-player online matches, the return of three-point contests, custom matches, and more.

The game will launch with a roster of over 200 current and retired NBA players – including Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Dr. J., Allen Iverson and Larry Bird.

There are new moves and power-ups to bust out, improved AI, and new player models and animations.

NBA Playgrounds 2 is expected to launch in 2018 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. It is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB.

Ninja Striker comes to Switch eShop tomorrow

Posted on April 18, 2018 by Jason Nason

Flyhigh Works and Circle Entertainment announced today that Ninja Striker! will be released on the Nintendo Switch eShop on Thursday. The game will be priced the same as the Steam version, which launched today, and retail for $3.99 USD.

Ninja Striker is a colourful action game with retro-styled visuals and ‘one more go’ gameplay. Ninja Striker takes visuals and music inspired by the 8-bit era and adds modern touches. Heavily stylised around Japanese themes, your goal is to advance forward with as much speed, flair and combo power as possible. You have double jumps, homing attacks and a special ‘Shinobi Action’ at your disposal; only by mastering each with sharp reflexes will you make it through your quest.

The game has four characters, each with different abilities. Each character changes up the way you play, meaning there’s a lot of fun to be had in battling through the campaign with each warrior.

The four characters are the Ninja, a deadly fighter has a Spinning Slash attack and ‘Storm Attack’ special. Kunoichi has a Spinning Shot attack and ‘Kunai’ special, the mysterious Chain Sickle’s unique style gives him incredible range, with a Chain Attack and ‘Sickle Slash’ special. Finally the Robot Ninja is slower than his human counterpart but with more health points and the ability to boost through stages, this metallic warrior has a Drill attack and ‘Hammer Attack’ special.

2D fighter Blade Strangers coming to Switch/PS4 in 2018

Posted on April 18, 2018 by Jason Nason

Studio Saizensen is bringing Blade Strangers, a hardcore old-school fighting game, to the Nintendo Switch in 2018, though there is no firm date announced yet.

A malevolent force known only as Lina is devouring data from a vast, interdimensional network of servers overseen by sentient computers called ”motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from a variety of parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one-on-one combat. The tournament victor has the potential to be awakened as the Blade Stranger—the savior who can vanquish Lina and protect the motes from further harm!

The streamlined four button control scheme makes it easy for beginners to deal out damage from day one, but the intricate combos, counters and specials give tournament-caliber players plenty of opportunities for frame counting, chain construction and hit-box science.

Fighter roster includes characters from previous Studio Saizensen games (like Code of Princess and Sayonara Umihara Kawase ), Nicalis games (like Cave Story+ ) and other surprise entrants.

Each character has three alternate color settings and their own familiar “home” stage. A proprietary development system transforms 3-D models and animation into 2-D spritework and every frame looks like a gorgeous anime drawing.

The game will have online competition and is touted as having minimum input lag.

Natsume’s Wild Guns Reloaded on Nintendo Switch today

Posted on April 17, 2018 by Jason Nason

Natsume Inc. today launched Wild Guns Reloaded for Nintendo Switch both digitally and at retail for $29.99 USD.

Wild Guns Reloaded is a fast-paced gallery style shooter mixing the Wild West with steampunk. Players can play as Clint, Annie, two new characters, or all together in multiplayer action! Each can jump, dive, and roll to get out of the way of the barrage of bullets enemies let fly – or shoot them down with their own gun!

In Wild Guns Reloaded, Annie has tracked down the famed bounty hunter Clint to get revenge on the Kid gang. With eight stages, each with three zones, there’s plenty of bad robots to blast away. With a true arcade game feel, Wild Guns was the first sci-fi western to arrive on home consoles and, to this day, there really isn’t any other game like it!

The Switch version offers new game modes, such as Beginner Mode, allowing newcomers to play with unlimited lives. And in contrast to Beginner Mode, Boss Rush: Time Attack was created for Wild Guns veterans. For the hardest of the hardcore, Boss Rush: Time Attack mode lets players take on all the bosses in the game, one right after the other.

Wild Guns Reloaded is now available in the Nintendo eShop.

Tennis World Tour Latest Trailer Reveals First Career Mode Details & Gameplay

Posted on April 17, 2018 by Jason Nason

Publishers Maximum Games and Bigben along with developer Breakpoint revealed the first details of Tennis World Tour’s career mode today in an extensive new trailer for the title, which launches May 22nd on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

In addition to fast-paced realistic tennis gameplay, Tennis World Tour’s career mode puts you in control of your career trajectory. Your main goal is to become the best in the entire world, but to do that you’ll have to learn to manage both your schedule and your form. Take part in an exhibition match or a tournament, train or rest — your choices are crucial and will have an impact on your career.

If you string multiple matches together, or travel relentlessly around the world, fatigue will sneak up on you, your performance will diminish, and you risk hurting yourself.

The most strategic players will strike the right balance, win tournaments, and win credits to hire staff, buy equipment and pay the entry fees to enter more prestigious tournaments. Once you’ve reached the top, you’ll have to fight to stay there by accomplishing specific objectives: win the four coveted Grand Slams, go undefeated for a season… there are numerous challenges open to you. Tennis World Tour’s career mode is a unique and complete mode that will let you experience a career befitting a professional tennis player.

With realistic technical play developed in part with talent behind the Top Spin series, positioning and shot power are as important in Tennis World Tour as they are on a real court. Tennis World Tour features more than 30 real-life professional athletes, including Roger Federer, who shares the game’s U.S. packshot with Americans Madison Keys and John Isner.

Calling all cars: This Is the Police 2 launches in 2018

Posted on April 14, 2018 by Jason Nason

THQ Nordic has a really interesting game on the way. This Is the Police 2 is the second strategy/adventure game in the series which is planned for 2018 on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Just like the first game, This Is the Police 2 is a mixture of adventure and management genres, and this time will enjoys further mechanics that will strengthen both the strategic and tactical parts of the game. It won’t be enough just managing the equipment of your policemen and keeping in mind their individual skills.

You’ll have to interpret the law and run the sheriff’s department, manage your cops, investigate, interrogate, incarcerate, make tough decisions – and try to keep out of prison yourself! – in this story-driven mixture of adventure and strategy, set in a cold border town riven with violence.

Every challenge requires the player’s direct participation on a tactical combat scene, and the outcomes will depend on every decision you make. Now your subordinates aren’t just some resource; they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices, and you’ll have to reckon with all these things in order to survive.

This Is the Police 2 will be released later this year on PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Check out the trailer below.
