CHARTED: Nintendo (week ending Jul 13)

Posted on July 28, 2013 by Jason Nason

No matter how many weeks have passed since the release, Mario titles have holding power with several releases from the last year still holding well in the top 30 releases.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is still holding strong in its fifth week of release in North America and has sold nearly 500,000 copies in the first five weeks. That pales in comparison to the Japanese release which has more than 3.5 million sold so far, though the game has been out for 36 weeks in Japan.

Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu, which is similar to Animal Crossing except that you play the game with your Mii characters, is still in the top five in Japan after three months and has sold more than 1.2 million copies. Hopefully Nintendo finally brings this game out in North America. Would love to finally play this game.

Take a look at Nintendo’s the full top 30 performance below:

Shin Megami Tensei IV is a fun and deep RPG experience that blends traditional RPG gameplay with monster hunting tactics which leads to a rewarding gameplay experience.

The Shin Megami Tensei RPG series began in Japan in 1992 on Super Famicom, and neither the first installment nor its sequel was published in North America. In 2004 Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne was the first SMT game in North America, although “III” was removed from the PlayStation 2 title. The SMT series later spun-off several sub-series, including Persona, Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Digital Devil Saga, and the standalone Strange Journey.
