Posted on June 12, 2018 by Jason Nason

The Mario Party series is coming to the Nintendo Switch with super charged fun for everyone.

The original board game style has been kicked up a notch with deeper strategic elements, like special dice blocks for each character. The game also introduces all new ways to play, including Joy-Con controller enabled minigames, and new modes to enjoy.

Board game play goes back to the four player basics as you take turns and race across the board searching for Stars. You can also pair up with two Nintendo Switch systems and delight in this dynamic play style, such as in the new Toad’s Rec Room mode. With new modes and new minigames coupled with original board game play, the party starts anywhere, anytime, and with all kinds of players.

The modes for the game include.

  • Mario Party • Enjoy the original Mario Party board game experience with new elements like character dice blocks, a party system, and new boards to explore.
  • Toad’s Rec Room • A dynamic new play style that pairs up two Nintendo Switch systems for Table top mode
  • Go head to head in 80 new minigames with m ny ways to play
  • Fast and fun skill based minigames that use the Joy Con controllers in all sorts of different ways.

The game will launch for the Nintendo Switch on October 5th.

Celebrate The Best Mario Party Mini Games With Mario Party: The Top 100

Posted on September 14, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Do you have fond memories of playing the original 3 Mario Party games on the Nintendo 64? Never played one of the classic games from almost two decades ago? The Big N is curating the top 100 mini games from the series history and remaking them on the 3DS with the announcement of Mario Party: The Top 100, due out this November.

With support for download play, friends who don’t own a copy of the game can still get in on the action. From the look of the trailer personal favorites of mine like the deadly treadmill and Shy Guy Flag game from the original are present and accounted for.  It is not known at this time if ‘The Top 100’ will feature traditional game boards, will eschew them for free roaming movement as in Mario Party 10 or will simply provide a vast library of mini-games.

Mario Party debuted on the Nintendo 64 in early 1998 and was quickly followed up with two numbered sequels in 1999 and 2001. Gamecube saw the release of 4 numbered entries between 2002 and 2005 while the original Wii saw just two Mario Party titles in 2007 and 2012 respectively. Wii U only received one game – the critically panned Mario Party 10. In addition to the 10 main console releases, Mario Party: The Top 100 will be the 5th portable offshoot.

Mario Party Star Rush changes up the party

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

Mario Party Star Rush is set to change the rules in the Mario Party series when it arrives on the Nintendo 3DS in November. Gone is the slow, turn-based gameplay and in is a fast paced, all out action fest.

You’ll have to think fast and have a blast with the variety of ways to party with Mario, Toad and the rest of the Mario gang. Mario Party Star Rush will feature seven modes, including Toad Scramble, a mode with open maps to push your strategy, fast-paced mini-game gantlet Coinathon. There is also Mario Shuffle, in which players maneuver three pieces to their opponent’s side of the board.

In Toad Scramble, everyone plays as a Toad, but Mushroom Kingdom allies are waiting around the board to team up and take down bosses in mini-games. The game is also compatible with the Super Mario series amiibo figures.

Mario Party Island Tour | PREVIEW

Posted on November 16, 2013 by Jason Nason

There’s no party quite like a Mario Party, and the A-list crew at Nintendo have been hosting parties for years. This year will be no exception with the launch of yet another iteration of Mario Party.

Mario Party: Island Tour is set to hit the Nintendo 3DS next week, and will be the twelfth video game in the series and the third on a portable system. The very first time the crew got together for some board game mini-games shenanigans was way back in 1998 on the Nintendo 64. Since then there were three N64 games, four Gamecube games and two Wii games. Plus there was Mario Party Advance for the Game Boy Advance, Mario Party DS for (you guessed it) the Nintendo DS and there was even a Mario Party card game which took advantage of the Nintendo e-Reader for mini-games on the GBA. Do you remember the e-Reader?

This latest game for the 3DS is the very first for the 3D system and will actually allow the game to be enjoyed by up to four players with just one copy of the game. What a novel idea! The game has seven new game boards, new modes, and 80 minigames.

Take a look at some of the features that Nintendo is touting!
