Niantic Switches Up Pokemon Spawns In Latest Pokemon Go Update

Posted on July 29, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Niantic continues to tweak their mobile smash hit Pokemon GO behind the scenes on a regular basis and adventurous users aren’t far behind them, discovering and cataloguing even the most minute changes to the game.

Users over on The Silph road have discovered that Pokemon Nests, that is locations where catchable Pokemon spawn, have been swapped around. Based upon a pattern discovered by users on the sub-reddit it appears that some monsters have been swapped with ones with a lower Pokedex number while other nests appear to spawn up to two new monsters now.

Here is the entire list that The Silph road has compiled about known Pokemon Nest spawn changes. My area (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) is full of Drowzees and also a lot of Jynx. According to these changes I can look forward to seeing a lot more Seels and the Scythers.

Ark Survival Evolved is having a free weekend RIGHT NOW

Posted on July 29, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

You know we love Ark: Survival Evolved. Everyone here on staff plays it. Our little dino fort might not be the type to make others stop and go OOOHHH. But we loved poppin in for a few hours to harvest or hunt in the vast world ARC offers.

This weekend everyone can try that dino riding, fort building, awesome fun for free. Even better Arc just dropped a huge content update. Studio Wildcard is truly ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ today after releasing a content-rich package (v245) offering ARK: Survival Evolved players a mega update to fantasy map The Center while fully launching Primitive+, the second player-created mod to be made an official part of the ARK game. Studio Wildcard also has brought to life two new creatures, Pelagornis and Allosaurus, and has materialized a new fishing rod and fishing mechanic, along with a flurry of additional gameplay features. All content is available starting today as a free download on Steam PC.

Its free to play right now ARK: Survival Evolved also is on sale for Steam players at 50% off (retail $29.99) from Thursday, July 28, through Wednesday, August 3, 2016. But, thats not all!  there is also Free ARK DLC

Newly available as part of the ‘ARK Official Mods Program’ today, Primitive+ is a functionality mod playable on all official ARK maps that challenges players to use only weapons and tools using wood and stone, without the benefit of advanced metals to create weapons such as guns. It’s a whole new set of items and detailed mechanics focused on ‘primitive’ survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK.

The Center, a massive free DLC map that was first released in May 2016, expanded today to include new biomes, islands, caves, and creature spawns. The Center was created by modder Ben Burkart as part of the ‘ARK Official Mods Program’ and complements the current biomes with a rich, hand-drawn Tolkien-esque aesthetic. The Center’s massive map doubles the in-game playable geography of the already enormous ARK landscape making it 70 sq. kilometers filled with stunning lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ice caves, and more.

ARK v245 New Creatures
Pelagornis (Species Pelagornis miocaenus): This creature is instantly recognizable from the more common Icthyornis by its size. With a wingspan rivaling Argentavis, it also possesses a beak filled with tooth-like projections for snagging fish and webbed feet for paddling upon the ocean surface. Because of its ability to fly, walk, and surface-swim, a tamed Pelagornis is one of the island’s most versatile mounts, though this comes at a cost. The same webbed feet that allow Pelagornis to serenely maneuver along the ocean’s surface prevent it from snatching prey from the ground, which may limit its appeal to some survivors.

Allosaurus (Species Allosaurus therotribus): Smaller but faster than Tyrannosaurus, larger but slower than Carnotaurus, Allosaurus is the island’s resident pack-hunting theropod. While most aggressive theropods are relatively solitary creatures, Allosaurus lives in groups of three. One Allosaurus is the Pack Leader, while the others are its mates or a beta male. The Allosaurus has evolved to hunt in packs. Its saw-shaped teeth leave its prey bleeding and maimed, making escape difficult. Once an Allosaurus slows a creature with its cutting bite, the rest of its pack quickly close in for the kill…

Additional Update v245 Content Includes:

  • New Item: Fishing Rod + Fishing Mechanic! Be a pro fisherman as you apply varied bait, cast the line, wait for a fish to become ensnared, and then succeed at a mini-game to reel the fish and claim copious rewards!
  • New Structure: Industrial Grinder that grinds items into a portion of their crafting resources, then converts resources into simpler resources
  • New Structure: Spiral Staircase (Stone/Wood/Metal)
  • New Mechanic: Optional Hitmarkers for ranged attacks (server can toggle them, as well as client if the server allows it)
  • Building Attack/Destruction TribeLogs

That is quite a list of free stuff! So get out there and give it a try!

VIZ Media to develop RWBY titles with Rooster Teeth

Posted on July 29, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

RWBY has been a run away success, with millions of eager Anime Fans devouring the series as fast as Rooster Teeth can make it.  RWBY still holds a record for being the first (and only) Western animated show to ever be dubbed in Japanese and distributed in Japan. The partnership Kicks Off With Publication of RWBY Manga Title In 2017, With Other Books Based On The Smash Hit Animated Series Forthcoming

VIZ Media, a premier company in the fields of publishing, animation distribution, and global entertainment licensing, has announced a partnership with Rooster Teeth. Rooster Teeth is an Austin, TX-based entertainment and media company behind the globally acclaimed animated series RWBY, the first western anime series to be distributed to Japan.

The Girls of RWBY

The Girls of RWBY

RWB what now?

RWBY is Rooster Teeth’s award-winning anime series that tells the story of four different girls brought together for one legendary purpose. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang are students at Beacon Academy, an ancient school designed to train the monster-slayers knows as Hunters and Huntresses. Unfortunately, monsters aren’t the only threat in the world of Remnant, and if these girls want to graduate, they’ll have to learn to work together  both on the battlefield and in the classroom. So basically its a classic highschool super powers anime.  Only its not really an anime since its not made in Japan, but its at least as good as most of the anime coming out of Japan.

So its gonna be a manga now?

Pretty much yah. Beth Kawasaki Editoral director of VIZ said in the press release. “The Rooster Teeth-VIZ Media partnership will showcase the strong creative vision and production expertise between our two entertainment companies to expand the vivid and exciting world of RWBY globally in bold new ways that fans will love,”

While Head of Rooster Teeth Animation Gray G. Haddock also expressed interest saying ““We are thrilled to be working with VIZ Media to bring such beautiful books to RWBY’s audience.”

The new books will go more in to back story of the RWBY world, and work to expand whats already there. If you are a fan these manga and possibly light novels are for sure worth checking out.
