Codemasters Reveal European Destinations for GRID 2

Posted on March 29, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

North American isn’t the only continent you’ll visit in a finely tuned racing machine in Codemaster’s GRID 2. The publisher unveieled the Grid 2: European Experience today, a brief video showcasing several  European cities playing host to racers in a variety of modes. Get your engines ready to rev, because if you’re into racing titles, this video is for you.

Street racers will be able to burn rubber on sections of Paris, blurring past major landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. If track racing is more  of your thing, Codemasters have you covered, with the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. This $250+ million dollar track was built in 2008, and it will be making its console debut in GRID 2.

Along with the announcement of these tracks the devs also sent a sampling of some of the European cars that you’ll be able to drive. Check out the YouTube video and car list after the jump.Read More

Codemasters Gives Us a Sneak Peak at GRID 2 With New Teaser

Posted on February 8, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get your wheels spinning with a bit of a tease for Codemaster’s GRID 2. A very brief glimpse of gameplay was released on the company’s official YouTube channel with a promise of a full trailer next week, on Feb 14.

The new trailer only gives us a brief 44 second look at the game. We do see some pretty neat effects in action, including some rather convincing smoke effects – which at least impressed me. Honestly, it’s hard to tell with all of those fades to black going on. Sigh, I guess will just have to wait for the full trailer to really see what is going on under the hood!

GRID 2‘s selection of cars include handpicked icons from the last 40 years of automotive history. Players will race all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Abu Dhabi.

Grid 2 will ship to retail on May 28th in North America and will be available for the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360. Check out the teaser trailer after the jump.Read More

Codemaster’s have taken the wraps off of Grid 2, their next racing game, due out in 2013. The sequel to 2009’s breakout racing hit puts players in the role of unnamed character. This time around it is not simply about collecting cars, sponsorships and unlocking tracks but about following a player character as they progress through the world of sponsored racing.  Grid 2 is set for release on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 sometime next year, jam packed with a more expansive career mode and online multiplayer.

Right now Codemasters is running a promotion through RaceNet, their online news portal. By liking their page on either facebook or twitter you can help unlock special rewards tied to Grid 2. Some of the perks include in game screenshots, trailers and more.

If you’re looking for something a little substantial why not check out the debut trailer. Watch as multiple cars take to the racetrack, bumping and grinding against each other. Just like the first game there’s some crazy physics action in play as cars spin out of control fly off the course into piles of wreckage. Combined with the cinematic camera angles and dramatic music that defined the first game, we can’t wait to see more!

Posted on April 19, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Racing titles have always been at the core of Codemasters and for those of us who have been involved in this industry for awhile the name brings to mind games like the Colin McRae’s Dirt, GRID or F1 series of games. Of course they don’t publish racing games exclusively but with a renewed focus on the tarmac this is about to change.

After the release of games like The Lord of the Rings Online and several Operation Flashpoint games the publisher has found little success in either the MMO or shooter markets. Despite their best efforts their continued success has come with their fantastic racing titles.Read More
