Here’s your friendly neighbourhood heads-up: if you’ve ever had Singularity Survivors on your Steam wishlist, the clock is officially ticking.

71 Studios announced on October 1st that development on their Early Access post-apocalyptic survival game is over, and the game will be pulled from Steam following a final week-long sale ending October 8th. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — though anyone who already owns it keeps it in their library and can keep downloading and playing it after the delisting. The Steam page currently has it at 65% off, so the last-chance math is pretty painless.
For those who never tried it, Singularity Survivors launched into Early Access back in 2024 as an open-world multiplayer survival game: manage hunger, thirst and stamina, build a base, craft gear, battle mutants, and team up or throw down with other players in co-op and PvP. It got several updates after launch, including a major overhaul — but nothing since January 2025, which in hindsight was the writing on the wall.

According to the studio’s announcement, they’d paused development a while back while reassessing whether the project could continue. Their conclusion, in refreshingly honest terms: the game grew into something much bigger than they’d planned, and their current team simply can’t dedicate the time and resources it would need. “We did not want to leave the project indefinitely paused or continue giving players uncertainty about its future,” they wrote. “We believe it is better to be clear about where the project stands.”
I’ve got a soft spot for a janky indie survival game, and I respect a studio that calls it honestly instead of letting an Early Access title rot on the store page for three more years while the devs quietly move on. This is one of the cleaner ways to sunset a game: a final discount, a clear end date, and a guarantee for existing owners.
Still — once October 8th rolls around, there’s no buying it anymore. If this is your kind of thing, you’ve got days, not weeks. Will you be grabbing it before it disappears?
