Animal Crossing was released 15 years ago

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

It’s hard to believe that Animal Crossing is fifteen years old as it only seems like yesterday I was sitting in my room playing the first game in North America on my Nintendo GameCube. It’s also hard to imagine that the game took up an entire memory card, which is why the original game came packaged with one.

The very first Animal Crossing game was released for the Nintendo 64 in Japan on April 14th, 2001. Since then there have been several releases across multiple generations, including the most recent spin offs Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival.

To commemorate the day, Nintendo of Japan released a small gratitude video, showing the games through the years and thanking gamers for playing the games.

It’s been a wild ride (or Wild World) and hopefully there is a lot more to come.

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Activision and Sony Pictures has announced a pair of new Ghostbusters video games set in and inspired by the comedic action world of the upcoming Ghostbusters film, which hits theaters on July 15th.

Taking place after the events of the new movie, both Ghostbusters games introduce new casts of rookies keeping watch over the station while the now-famous Ghostbusters tour the country stopping high-profile poltergeists. When paranormal phenomena unleash apparitions across New York City, these new squads of recruits must don their proton packs and wrestle those rogue spirits back to the afterlife!

The console game, Ghostbusters, is a third-person action role-playing game positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. Hyrule Warriors Legends | Review

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a scaled down version of the hit Wii U title of last year, and while it does fall victim to a few flaws it is overall a fun title. That being said, if you have the original Hyrule Warriors Wii U version and can do without all of the new DLC that has been added to the game then the game is an easy pass.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is once again a co production between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and mixes the Zelda characters and universe with the hack-and-slash gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series.

The big draw to the new edition of the game is of course the new added characters. The game features not only all of the DLC from the Wii U original title, but also has five new characters packed into the game. And that’s not including any unannounced playable characters included in the upcoming DLC. New to Hyrule Warriors Legends are Linkle, a girl who wields two crossbows and lives in a small village filled with Cuccos, Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, including Toon Link, King Daphnes and Tetra.

XSEED Games has announced it plans to release brand new versions of the much-lauded horror adventure, Corpse Party, for the Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC, both with exclusive content never before seen outside of Japan.

Originally developed as an independent title by Team GrisGris, and previously released by XSEED Games for the PSP, Corpse Party is a chilling visual novel-style experience that takes players on a terrifying journey where each step could be their last.

This summer, Corpse Party will receive a limited ‘Back to School Edition’ physical release for Nintendo 3DS priced at $49.99 USD, which will include high-quality miniature figurines of characters Naomi Nakashima and Seiko Shinohara, as well as a soundtrack CD containing nearly 80 minutes of music from the game not previously featured on the ‘Songs of the Dead’ compilation, including three tracks exclusive to this Nintendo 3DS version.

Corpse Party will also see a digital release in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS for $29.99 USD. Remastered from the 2011 PSP game, the Nintendo 3DS rendition of Corpse Party will feature redrawn, high-resolution character sprites, newly arranged music tracks, and 3D art stills, as well as four new Extra Chapters exclusive to this version that provide insight into lesser-shown characters and plot elements previously left unexplained.

This title has been rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB. The game is set to be released this Summer.

Atlas Reactor Beta Begins With New Features

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Atlus Reactor the latest game from Trion Worlds has entered the closed beta phase according to a press release the developer released prior to the weekend. This closed beta includes brand new features like a new spectator mode, an inventory system, a storefront selling enhanced emoticons among other enhancements.

Ganeplay in Atlas Reactor consists of two opposing teams squaring off against each other in simultaneous turns that mix elements of action games and turn based strategy games. Strategy is key to succeeding in Atlas Reactor, only through cooperation can a team come out on top and counter their opponent’s actions for the sweet end game loot.

The addition of seasons allow players to complete “seasonal quests” which reward them with various types of loot. If players happen to get a duplicate reward they are able to break them down using the new crafting system and then construct alternative rewards. Each season will last approximately three months and the developers will inject new chapters into each chapter every few weeks which will include new pieces of lore, brand new quests, challenges and of course rewards.

With the opening of the closed beta players will be able to try out several new characters, referred to as “freelancers” in-universe. The first new freelancer to be unveiled is a woman named “Ellie”, many more freelancers will be added to the game as the closed beta continues. This latest version of the game also brings with it a new battleground for players to try out called the Evo-5 Lab.

If Atlas Reactor sounds interesting you can apply for the closed beta on their official website or through Trion World’s download manager Glyph. I applied and pretty much got instant approval, so I suppose they are looking for new players right now! Instant access can also be guarennteed through one of Atlas Reactor’s various founder’s packs.
