Disney Infinity for 3DS Not Looking Good

Posted on August 17, 2013 by Jason Nason

I can’t say for sure as far as the gameplay goes as we didn’t get our hands on a pre-release copy of Disney Infinity, but the 3DS iteration of the game isn’t looking that great.

The game launches tomorrow on all major consoles including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo Wii. The game is a direct competitor to the Skylanders franchise which includes collectible toys which can be placed on a control deck and brought into your video game.

While the game is looking great and seeing a lot of positive words from critics, the 3DS edition is looking like a totally different game and visually seems like an afterthought by the developers. I’ve seen far prettier textures from games.

The 3DS version of the game, caled Disney Infinity: The Toy Box Challenge, was developed by Altron Corp and looks more like a party game than the full experience of the console versions. Altron has previously developed nearly a dozen Nintendo DS games for Disney Interactive.

The console versions were developed by Avalanche Software.

In fact in order to find any images of the game at all it takes a bit of hunting. The below images are from Nintendo.com but they require some hunting to find. A simple game search on the website only yields the Wii and Wii U versions. The game page seems almost buried.

What do you think of the way the game looks? Are consoles the way to go for this game?
