Holiday Weekend Sales Give Us All A Reason To Stay In-Doors & Game

Posted on November 24, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

All of our American editors are enjoying their time with family over the holiday weekends. As countless people are traveling across the continent to see family members and love ones that they may not have shared physical space together in many months. If you’re like me a long 8 hour flight with multiple lay-overs can be a great time to catch up on games that I might have ignored for quite some time.

I am of course not American – I’m Canadian – so I won’t be traveling anywhere this weekend. This doesn’t mean that some of the jaw dropping deals that large worldwide corporations have cooked up to coincide with a holiday steeped in colonialism. Some of these deals are USA only, most of them are open to everyone in USA & Canada and at least one is Canadian only.

Codemasters Reveal European Destinations for GRID 2

Posted on March 29, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

North American isn’t the only continent you’ll visit in a finely tuned racing machine in Codemaster’s GRID 2. The publisher unveieled the Grid 2: European Experience today, a brief video showcasing several  European cities playing host to racers in a variety of modes. Get your engines ready to rev, because if you’re into racing titles, this video is for you.

Street racers will be able to burn rubber on sections of Paris, blurring past major landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. If track racing is more  of your thing, Codemasters have you covered, with the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. This $250+ million dollar track was built in 2008, and it will be making its console debut in GRID 2.

Along with the announcement of these tracks the devs also sent a sampling of some of the European cars that you’ll be able to drive. Check out the YouTube video and car list after the jump.Read More

Codemasters Gives Us a Sneak Peak at GRID 2 With New Teaser

Posted on February 8, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get your wheels spinning with a bit of a tease for Codemaster’s GRID 2. A very brief glimpse of gameplay was released on the company’s official YouTube channel with a promise of a full trailer next week, on Feb 14.

The new trailer only gives us a brief 44 second look at the game. We do see some pretty neat effects in action, including some rather convincing smoke effects – which at least impressed me. Honestly, it’s hard to tell with all of those fades to black going on. Sigh, I guess will just have to wait for the full trailer to really see what is going on under the hood!

GRID 2‘s selection of cars include handpicked icons from the last 40 years of automotive history. Players will race all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Abu Dhabi.

Grid 2 will ship to retail on May 28th in North America and will be available for the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360. Check out the teaser trailer after the jump.Read More

The standard version of GRID 2 is available for $59.99 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. The original RACEDRIVER: GRID was well received by critics when it was released in 2009, featuring a distinctive rewind feature that allowed drivers to replay the last 3 or 4 seconds of race if they mess up and impressive visuals for the time.

Codemaster’s Grid 2 was announced via cinematic trailer a few months back. Well, the developer has finally come out of the shadow to show off some actual gameplay footage ahead of the game’s first public showing at the Eurogamer Expo.

This new video showcases a street race between a Camaro SS and the Z06 Corvette. Racing through the twisting Calirfornia course, the Golden state looks to offer some great opportunity for the speed addicted among us! The most recent press releases offers a few details on other tracks including those set in Asia and all over Europe. Grid 2 is going to be a globetrotting affair!

Check out the video below. If you are able to attend the EuroGamer expo Grid 2 will be playable from September 27th through the 30th.

GRID 2 Teased for Aug 8th Reveal

Posted on August 5, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

It looks like Codemasters will be announcing their next title, Grid 2, in just a couple of days time. On their official twitter page they teased an upcoming announcement this Wednesday followed by the brief teaser trailer I’ve embedded below. if you like seeing pre-rendered tires squeal against digital pavement this you’ll love this trailer!

The original Race Driver: Grid is perhaps one of my favorite racing games of this generation. The handling was suburb and the ability to rewind time and fix mistakes was novel for 2008, when the game released. Let’s not also forget the presentation, from sleek pop out text  to a sexy female announcer who said your name, the original Grid was a standout title in a genre where new games can pass you by.

Presumably Grid 2 will be targeted for a mid – late 2013 release on current gen consoles and PCs.
