After months of waiting, we finally know the price of Valve’s next entry into the entertainment PC market, with the official pricing reveal for the upcoming Cube. Prices start at $1,500 CAD (approximately $1,050 USD) for the base Steam Machine and climb to a hefty $2,038 CAD for a fully loaded model featuring 2TB of storage and one of the brand-new Steam Controllers.
Here are the official specifications from the Steam Store page for the highest-end model:
Steam Machine 2TB with Controller — $2,038 CAD
- CPU: Semi-custom AMD Zen 4 (6 cores / 12 threads)
- GPU: Semi-custom AMD RDNA 3 (28 Compute Units)
- Memory: 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM
- Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD, microSD card slot
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Gigabit Ethernet
- Integrated Steam Controller wireless adapter
- Small form factor (~6-inch cube)
- SteamOS 3
- Includes extra faceplates (red fabric and solid walnut)
- Includes one Steam Controller
Other configurations include a 512GB model with one controller for $1,628 CAD, a 2TB model without a controller for $1,919 CAD, and the fully loaded bundle for the previously mentioned $2,038 CAD.
While I’m sure influencers, affluent buyers, and dedicated tech enthusiasts will eagerly snap up a $2,000 living-room PC, I think I’ll sit this generation out. I absolutely adore my Steam Deck, but with memory and storage prices continuing to rise amid growing AI-driven component demand, I can’t see myself spending this much on what is ultimately a luxury gaming PC.
