Etrian Odyssey V dated for October 17th

The newest numbered addition to the Etrian Odyssey series is nearly here. The Etrian Odyssey series is renowned for perfecting the core features of classic RPGs: dungeon exploration, monster battles, and party building. Explore the character creator’s endless possibilities to form a customized guild, then draw out your own, personal map as you conquer the Yggdrasil Labyrinth.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth chronicles the quest of a new adventurer as he or she attempts to reach the top of the towering Yggdrasil Tree. For it is said that whoever braves the dangers of the dreaded Yggdrasil Labyrinth and reaches the summit will have their greatest wish fulfilled.

This is the story of Yggdrasil, the world tree in the land of Arcania. Children of men pass down an ancient fable: “The power of the gods will be granted there…” Disciples of magic study an archaic myth: “The great mysteries shall be answered there…” Descendants of warriors recite their folklore: “The ultimate techniques can be mastered there…” Nomads of the plains exchange a fairy tale: “The lost treasures must be slumbering there…”

From all across the land of Arcania, each culture pursues its own legends. They journey to Yggdrasil, yearning to reach the top and meet their destinies.

You can pre-order the game right now, which will come in a special collector’s edition packed with a 24-page art boox and a 6-track arranged CD. The edition comes stored in a sleek and stylish outer box.

Included with the release date news today Atlus released a class trailer for the Fencer Class. Fencers are masters of rapiers and shields. With the ability to evade and attack with superior agility, the Fencers are ready to stand in the frontline and attack on command.

The folks at Atlus will be hosting a special Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth event on their Twitch channel on September 15th at 7pm ET. They will be showing off exclusive gameplay footage and giving away prizes.
