Help Restore Lantz’s Soul By Dating Monster Girls – Visual Novel

Posted on March 27, 2017 by Les Major

Soulless Wonder Title
Soulless Wonder is on Kickstarter (http://kck.st/2nMZPwf) and it’s one of the most unique visual novels you’ll ever play! Featuring an absolutely twisted story about a cursed bard who desperately wants his soul back in his body, the game sees players venturing the wilds and trying to convince various monster girls to fall in love with our hero. Failing to do so doesn’t end in a game over however. The epic tale encourages gamers to continue forward even if some of the girls even grow to hate Lantz. With multiple endings and lots of choices to make throughout the adventure, there’s

Petite Novel Series – Harvest December | Review

Posted on January 7, 2016 by Jason Nason

For a number of reasons this review has been challenging and for those same reasons this review will actually have to be a two-part review. The first part of the review is based on the software itself while the second part based on the story. It’s an odd way to do the review, but hear me out. Petit Novel series – Harvest December is a collection of 13 stories set in the small, snowy town of Tagami. Follow Masaki Konno, a teenager prone to falling into sticky situations through his last year of high school. Each month is a new

The Original Valkyria Chronicles Available On Nintendo Switch

Posted on October 19, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

SEGA’s classic mix of Real Time Strategy, Visual Novel Storytelling and watercolor inspired aesthetics – Valkyria Chronicles – is now available digitally on the Nintendo E-Shop for Switch. It’s hard to believe that the original tale of Squad 7 was released a decade ago on the PS3, I remember buying it’s original release on day 1! Now veteran commanders and fresh recruits alike can join Alicia, Welkin and the other members of Squad 7 in the game that kicked off the Valkyria franchise. There wasn’t anything like it upon release, and to this day it remains a solid JRPG worth

Extremely Queer Indie Game ‘EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER’ Tops Charts

Posted on July 26, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

Experimental visual novel, mecha brawler and Fascist slaying indie title EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is currently climbing the top ten grossing titles on Itch.io. Developed by fellow queer game developer Heather Flowers, EXTREME MEAT PUNKS FOREVER, is unapologetically, radical, leftist and queer as hell. Fusing a vibrant pastel presentation, a quartet of protagonists and mech battles where you fight your literal clone (and kill Fascist scum while you’re at it, EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER takes a look at a lot of different subject matter through a queer lens.  I asked Heather for a brief overview of what EXTREME MEATPUNKS FOREVER is and

Posted on July 2, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

ARC Systemwork’s latest multiplatform fighting game is a dream matchup more than half a decade in the making as the cast of ARC’s Blazblue square off against the protagonists of Persona 4: Ultimax. Joining the fray as well are several fighters from Ecole Software’s Under Night: Rebirth series.  As if borrowing characters from the developer of Melty Blood wasn’t enough of a reason to be paying attention to Blazblue Cross Tag Team Battle, Team RWBY from Rooster Teeth’s multi-season animated action show join the cast to round out a roster that spans more than 40 characters.   CAN’T ESCAPE FROM

Radiant Historia – Perfect Chronology | REVIEW

Posted on February 13, 2018 by Jason Nason

The branching timelines in Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology makes the game feel like a choose-your-own adventure game, but while you’ll jump back and forth between the timelines the game doesn’t get too confusing. It’s actually a rather interesting mechanic that doesn’t feel like a gimmick and is central to the story and your progression through the game. The expanded 3DS port of the original Radiant Historia, released six years ago for the Nintendo DS, contains a great deal of added gameplay/story content, updated presentation, and new ways to experience the adventure. On the continent of Vainqueur about a century ago, a mysterious

I Made A Game About 2000s Instant Messengers Thanks To LoveJam

Posted on February 6, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Developing video games isn’t something that I can confess to have a large amount of knowledge about but alas I’ve spent the past year or so learning the basics of Unity 3D and C#. This past weekend I took part in Love Jam, a 72 hour game jam that Simeoens, Mientje and Kenny Guillaume set up to not only celebrate the theme of love but also a friend’s upcoming marriage. Here is how the organizers described their event: “A friend of ours is getting married and asked us if we could make a game for the occasion.  Loving gamedev and game

Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~ | REVIEW

Posted on November 23, 2016 by Jason Nason

This is going to be a quicky review, which is appropriate because the subject of this review is a quicky game. While Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~ is listed as a puzzle adventure game, is really isn’t either. Chase is a very linear visual novel game with very limited interaction coming from the player. It’s mostly a visual novel with the illusion of choices. The game takes place at the Cold Case Unit of the 3rd Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Two detectives work in the cold case unit that never steps outside. One is an eccentric, Shounosuke Nanase, and

Ray Gigant Holding Strong On Steam New Releases

Posted on August 13, 2016 by Les Major

Ray Gigant Battle
With titles like No Man’s Sky just being released this week, you’d figure it would be difficult to be anyone else. That’s not the case with Acttil Steam release of Ray Gigant which is still holding strong on the popular new releases list. Originally released for the PlayStation Vita, the game sees players tackling a visual novel story with dungeon crawling elements included. If that isn’t enough to grab your attention, the story feels like an interesting mix between Neon Genesis Evangelion (without the mecha) and almost a Percy Jackson vibe as you join with others who have powers given
