Dontnod Co-Founder Would Love To Work On a Sequel To Life Is Strange

Posted on November 8, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Dontnod’s co-founder Alain Damasio has confirmed in an interview with a French publication that if a sequel to this year’s surprise hit Life Is Strange enters full production he’ll be happy to work on it – just as he did as a script consultant for the original 5 episodes.

Here’s a translated quote (thanks to Google Translate):

I contributed modestly as Script Doctor on  Life is Strange  developed by Studio DONTNOD. If there were to be a sequel, I would happy to contribute, of course.

The remainder of the interview talks about the social function of videogames, how developing games has changed as the player base continues to age and what makes games so much more engaging when compared to other mediums like film, television and books. Even if (like me) you have to read the interview through a translator it is quite fascinating.

One of our editors recently took apart and analyzed several of the problems with Life Is Strange Episode 5’s ending. I personally was absolutely drawn to the series after playing the first episode and without spoiling things the ending I chose in episode 5 left me in tears. If Dontnod can re-create this magic in an eventual sequel I’ll gladly buy the season pass up front!

Rise of the Tomb Raider Coming To PlayStation In Holiday 2016

Posted on July 23, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

As it turns out the console exclusivity deal for Crystal Dynamic’s Rise of the Tomb Raider is simply a timed exclusive deal, something neither publisher Square Enix or Microsoft mentioned during the games numerous appearances at E3 2014, Gamescom 2014 or this past E3.

In a press release issued this morning Square Enix confirmed that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on Xbox One on November 10th this year, on Windows 10 PC / Steam sometime in early 2016 and finally on PlayStation 4 one year after the Xbox One version in Holiday 2016. Development duties for all versions is being handled by Crystal Dynamics.

In all honesty this kind of takes the wind right out of the word “exclusive” – sure we’ve seen other publishers, most notably Activision with time locked content in Destiny on PlayStation Platforms, lock away content for an unspecified amount of time. But this whole deal with Rise of the Tomb Raider is a bit different because Square & Microsoft failed to acknowledge that the game would ever come to other platforms although many in the industry expected that Rise would eventually make the jump.

Check out the E3 2014 trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider below. We’ll probably hear more about the game at Gamescom this August.

Sequel On The Way For Hotline Miami

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Les Major

Jonatan Söderström, creator of Hotline Miami has confirmed there will be a Hotline Miami 2. Earlier this week he tweeted, “Working while listening to the sweet tunes of a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack that we’ve put together during the weekend.” Sounds like a productive Black Friday weekend indeed!

In an interview with Eurogamer, Jonatan revealed more about the sequel. Originally DLC for the first game was planned, but it was decided instead to be made into a full fledged sequel. He did also note however that they only have general ideas for the second game, and the team is still working on fixing Hotline Miami.

Our own Aaron Chados loved the original and you can check out his review here.
