Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Closed Beta “A Huge Success” Says Developer

Posted on February 27, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

This weekend’s  closed beta for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was a “huge success” according to a press release issued by developer Fatshark. In addition to the news of the beta test’s success they also announced that 10,000 more closed beta keys will be available on the game’s website. Open Beta servers will operate until 9 am PST on the 28th so make sure to get your freebie Vermintide 2 gameplay in!

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is the sequel to the 2016 release Warhammer: End Times Vermintide. Like its predecessor the sequel sees the 5 heroes from the original game return to take on the combined forces of the Skaven army across a number of waves on 13 brand new maps. Players will be offered 15 different career paths each with their own talent trees and customizable weapons. Some heroes excel at melee weapons crossbows while others use melee weapons like dual swords or large flaming staffs.

According to Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund players killed millions of NPC enemies.

“It’s been an amazing weekend, with millions and millions of Chaos and Skaven enemies eliminated.”

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will see a retail release next week on March 8th on Windows PC. A vague “2018” date has been given for the PS4 / Xbox One console port.

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak Second Story Trailer – “The Transmission”

Posted on January 17, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Homeworld Deserts of Kharak

The latest Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak trailers contains some rather chilling words from a representative of the antagonistic Gaalsien fleet… “Diplomacy has failed!”

It seems as if the forces that chief science officer Rachel S’jet will face in the game’s campaign as she attempts to explore the mystery of an anomaly in the deserts of Kharak are more than ready for a fight.

Kath Gaalsien are a major religious sect and antagonists of this latest game, who have existed on the planet of Kharak ever since the Kushan settled on Kharak after being exiled from their former planet in the original Homeworld (1999). They believe that eventually their exile will expire and that they will be sent into heaven by Sajuuk, their believe that this sentence was imposed upon them for their ancestor’s arrogance.

Check out the brand new trailer in the embedded player below. Gearbox Software is publishing this Homeworld prequel on January 20th on Windows PC via Steam. Development was handled by former members of Relic Entertainment at the Vancouver based studio Blackbird Interactive.

Disgaes 5 Now Available In Europe

Posted on October 16, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nippon Ichi Software has announced that the European delay for Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is finally over as the game has shipped to retail.

In this sixth installment in the long running Disgaea franchise players must gather together an entire army to take on the forces of the Void Dark.

We reviewed the game last month and had this to say about it:

In the end Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is probably the most solid entry in the franchise to date and is easy to recommend for returning players as well as newcomers alike. If you are looking for a rich Strategy RPG experience that will keep you thinking and allows you to grind away hours until you reach LVL 9999 Alliance of Vengeance is the game for you. Despite not utilizing all of the processing power available to it in the visual department, which we suspect to maintain a franchise identity, Disgaea V delivers a memorable experience that will reward players who stick with it. If you are an anime fan you’ll appreciate the excellent English language voice work, a bad 90s dub this is not! Grab your closest demon friends and get ready to fight evil whenDisgaea 5: Alliance of Vengence launches on October 6th!

Alongside the confirmation of the European release NIS also released a new launch trailer in French!

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Looks Like a Hot Mess

Posted on September 29, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Skinned knees, sore joints and maybe the occasional broken bone are all expected hazards when learning to skateboard but how about glitching through the walls and stuttering back and forth? From early first hand reports the retail version of Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is absolute mess.  What happened, Bird Man?

Activision’s revival of the long dormant Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise shipped to retail this morning and it sounds like the game turned out to be a complete bail. With reports (and YouTube videos) of skaters glitching back and forth on the rails, to riders clipping through the environment it looks like the developers may have let more than a few minor bugs slip through the certification process.

As of the time of writing there are more than few threads over on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Reddit warning potential buyers that they should “know what you’re signing up for” before putting down $60 for the game. Reports have varied from the aforementioned bugs to a large 7 gigabyte patch that’s nearly double the initial install size of the game being available out of the box.

It is no wonder Activision hasn’t supplied us or many other press outlets with review codes for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. We’ve sent multiple requests for a review code and will update this article if we hear anything back from the publisher.

Perhaps you should do a 180 if you approach this game at your local GameStop? If you’re having issues with THPS5 we’d love to hear from you!

Check out some of the glitch videos below.

Posted on March 12, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tecmo Koei’s long running Atelier series gets another release stateside with the announcement that Atelier Escha & Logy has shipped to retailers for the PlayStation 3.

This latest iteration offers more than just the usual Atelier trimmings we’ve come to expect – aside from gorgeous graphics and adorable characters – Escga & Logy also bring with them the new imbue system. This system allows players to customize their weapons and armour by amending a wide variety of properties. Tweaks to the series staple synthesis system mean that as players progress they will unlock the ability to craft more complex potions/items as the story progresses. Party size has also increased, doing away with the franchises’ traditional 3 party model for a much fuller six member roster.Read More
