Posted on February 24, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Naughty Dog and Sony have dropped a brand new two minute story trailer for the upcoming fourth entry in the Uncharted series – Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Here’s the official synopsis for the trailer provided by Sony:

“Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter Nathan Drake is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.”

The full game will be out on PlayStation 4 April 26th 2016.

The Last of Us’ Left Behind Gets Stand Alone Release

Posted on May 1, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Left Behind the critically acclaimed prequel DLC for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us will be released as a stand-alone title on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on May 12th for $9.99 (USD).  This add-on chapter to Naughty Dog’s last gem of a game tells the story of Ellie and Riley as they sneak out of bordering school to explore an abandoned mall before Riley joins the Fireflies resistance movement.

I reviewed the PS3 version of The Last of Us back in June of 2013 and absolutely loved how it explored the relationship between the two main protagonists – Ellie and Joel. If you haven’t played this game, you really owe it yourself to check it out.

We’ve seen The Last of Us and it’s DLC Left Behind bundled with PlayStation 4’s since at least the holidays so there is a good chance that if you own a PS4 you already have The Last of Us on your hard drive.  If you play through Left Behind and want some more action the Factions Multiplayer component will be available as an add-on for $9.99 and the full single player experience with Factions Multiplayer will be available for $29.99!

Explore Nearly Fifteen Minutes of Uncharted 4 Gameplay Footage

Posted on December 6, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

During Sony’s PlayStation Experience keynote presentation Naughty Dog showed off the first gameplay demo for Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End. In this demo we see Nathan Drake climb and sneak his way through a lush jungle island. There are quite a few awesome mechanics at play – I’m not sure if they are scripted or contextual but they still impress – like when Drake uses a rope to swing across a gap and knock out an enemy right before grabbing the guys gun while in mid swing.

We know this demonstration was played in real-time on Sony’s stage because at one point the person playing fell through the game world! If you can stomach a groaning one liner or sarcastic remark approximately every minute I highly recommend checking out this trailer.

A Thief’s End is still early in development. We don’t have a solid release date yet for this PlayStation 4 exclusive but I’m sure we will see more of Nathan Drake at next year’s E3.

Ellen Page Unhappy About The Last of Us’ Ellie Resembling Her

Posted on June 24, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ellen Page, the actress probably best known for roles as Kitty Pride/Shadow Cat in the X-Men franchise and the titular character in Juno is unhappy about her likeness possibly being used for Ellie from Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. Recently a question about her likeness being used for the initial design of Ellie was brought up during a Reddit AMA (“Ask Me Anything”)Read More

The Last of Us | Review

Posted on June 13, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Warning: minor story spoilers ahead.

Describing The Last of Us as a post apocalyptic, stealth-action hybrid that takes place 20 years after hordes of infected have ravaged the world, essentially causing the apocalypse, would be doing it a disservice. While on the surface, and probably to the uninitiated, this statement is accurate, it does little to highlight what makes this game so special: Joel and Ellie, the two main characters, and the bond they share. Zombies may be so passé that the genre appears to be shambling forward like the very undead that inhabit it, but Naughty Dog’s latest proves that a little humanity can warm up the darkest of hearts.Read More

Phil Spencer Wears State Of Decay Teeshirt

Posted on June 10, 2013 by Les Major

During the intro to Ryse, which looks absolutely fantastic, Phil Spencer who is head of Microsoft Studios was wearing a State of Decay teeshirt. I realize this is really missing the point of the tons of news that was released during this press conference, but it was cool to see a nod to XBLA’s latest game by Undead Labs.

Of course, many of us are anticipating Last Of Us which releases tomorrow for PS3. It’s possible to speculate that State of Decay was a way for Microsoft Studios to give their fans a zombie game exclusive to their console. Especially considering it was released a week before Naughty Dogs huge triple-A title.Read More

Naughty Dog’s Last of Us Gets Season Pass

Posted on May 29, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Naughty Dog’s next big Sony exclusive action game, The Last of US, will be released in just a few short weeks and we are now getting our first look at post-release downloadable content. If you want to experience the full singe player experience featuring Joel & Ellie be ready to pony up a little bit of cash.

DLC will come in the form of 3 separate packs, the first of which will add new single player content, a first for a Naughty Dog title. The other two add fresh maps and weapons into the game’s yet to be revealed Multiplayer mode. All 3 pieces of downloadable content are available in a $19.99 season pass, available through the PlayStation store. It is not yet known if The Last of US‘s singe player DLC will continue the game’s main story, or will feature some sort of side-story.

You’ll be able to enter the post apocalyptic world of The Last of Us on June XX exclusively on PlayStation 3.

Naughty Dog Delays The Last of Us Until June 14th

Posted on February 13, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

The wait for Naughty Dog’s Ps3 exclusive post-apocalyptic action game The Last of Us is about to get a little longer with the announcement that the game is now due out on June 14th 2013.

Neil Druckmann, Creative Director at Naughty Dog, made a post announcing the delay on the PlayStation Blog this morning. Citing the fact that the extra few weeks will allow the studio to continue to polish the game, he promised it would allow them to stick to their original vision without cutting corners.

Interestingly the game is scheduled just after E3 2013 is scheduled to run, from June 11th through the 13th. We already know that the PS4 will be unveiled well before the convention; perhaps The Last of US will be one last hurrah for Sony’s seven year old platform.

Are you excited for the The Last of Us? The first hands-on previews of the game came a little while back but other than that things have been relatively quiet. Perhaps SCEA and Naughty Dog will scare up a new trailer soon.

Check out a quote from the PlayStation blog after the jump.Read More

Last of Us Release Date & New Trailer

Posted on December 9, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Last of Us wowed everyone with its surprise reveal at the 2011 Spike Videogame Awards. Since that reveal Naughty Dog was been awfully quiet about their plans for the title, outside of a brief 10 minute demo first shown to the press at E3 and then released to the general public earlier this fall. The good news for everyone wanting to experience the post apoclyptic tale of Joel & Elle is that they’ll be able to get their hands on the game on May 7th 2013.

This new trailer certainly sets the apocalyptic mood right off the hop with twitching zombies, barren urban environment and enough tension to make even the most relaxed person sit on the edge of their seat. It is clear that Joel’s teenage companion, Elle, plays a huge role in the story. While her significance is still a mystery to us I doubt that Naughty Dog would go with the cliché “child carrying the anti-virus in her blood” trope. Knowing them we are in for some great twists and turns.

Check out the trailer below.

Who Is The Villain of The Last of Us?

Posted on June 8, 2012 by Andrew Minott

The end of the world has a notorious habit of showing us who we truly are. Thankfully, none of us have had to experience the end of the world, and since the whole Mayan thing is nonsense we shouldn’t have to any time soon. But we have bucketfuls of stories, ramping up sharply in number since World War II due to the fact that nuclear weapons made the eradication of human civilization relatively affordable and convenient, like a minivan.

Naughty Dog’s forthcoming The Last of Us presents a world whose end was less cataclysmic, but just as horrific. In their original teaser, the main characters Joel and Ellie (voiced by the waitress Captain America saved) fight off both a presumably human thug, and a… spore monster?

But who’s the bad guy?Read More

The Last Of Us Demoed @ E3

Posted on June 4, 2012 by Kirk Williford

Sony wrapped up it’s E3 press conference this evening by showing off the first in-game demo of Naughty Dog’s upcoming title The Last of Us.

The demo featured the two main characters going through a high-budget destroyed hotel that was inhabited by enemies and included a ton of cringe-inducing gameplay elements, as both of the main characters helped each other survive by throwing bricks, stabbing enemies, and finally, introducing an enemy’s face to the barrel of a shotgun.

The game appears to be very survival based, as the lead character’s health bar often took large hits from single shots. A crafting element was revealed when a Molotov was created from various elements in the main character’s backpack.

The game’s dark tone has no influence on the world, which is bright and full of multiple colors similar to the Uncharted series — but don’t confuse the two, as The Last of Us looks to be a significant jump in play style when compared to Naughty Dog’s previous titles.

Color us interested — we can’t wait to learn more about The Last of Us, and we’ll be sure to share anything we learn with you as it becomes available.Read More
