Steamworld Heist | Review

Posted on June 2, 2016 by Jason Nason

When I learned that there was a sequel planned for the hit 3DS title Steamworld Dig I was in. Image & Form’s last game was great fun I was sold on a sequel when all that was available was a logo. Now that that sequel has been released, even though it is a completely different type of game, I’m having just as much fun as I did with the last one.

SteamWorld Heist is a turn-based strategy game at it’s core and it’s great fun.

In the game you will join Captain Piper Faraday, smuggler and occasional pirate, as she recruits a rag-tag team of steam-driven robots and sets out on a daring adventure. With your hearty crew you’ll board, loot and shoot your way through enemy spaceships. Overcome the challenges of the vast frontier by upgrading your robots with unique abilities, weapons – and even stylish hats!

Steamworld Heist DLC on the Way

Posted on February 22, 2016 by Jason Nason

The folks at Image & Form posted a new Q&A on Friday, in which they answered questions from fans about a number of things, but primarily SteamWorld Heist.

One of the questions involved ports of the title, which was made for the Nintendo 3DS eShop last fall. There are plans to port the game to just about every platform, including PC, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Wii U, and iOS. The developers haven’t decided on which platform will see the first port.

More languages will be supported in the near future, including French, Spanish, German, Russian, and Italian, which will be released in a free update to the 3DS game. They also alluded to a lot of “very cool stuff” on the way for the game, but didn’t make any announcements just yet. Some of what they have planned stems from feedback from gamers and reviews. Image & Form Teases SteamWorld Heist

Posted on September 16, 2014 by Jason Nason

Image & Form, who developed and released the smash hit SteamWorld Dig, has teased their latest game project, and it’s a little bit different than you might expect.

SteamWorld Heist is a game about space adventures and survival. Recruit a team of ragtag robots to explore and scavenge the remains of a destroyed world. Board enemy ships and command your crew in a unique variety of turn-based combat.

Taking place some time after SteamWorld Dig, a cataclysmic event has shattered the planet and forced its population into steam-driven spaceships. It’s a robot-eat-robot world out there, and water is desperately hard to come by. Heisting other ships and bases – bad guys fortunately, the lot of them – is their only way to remain in operation.
