EA May Discount Battlefront II When The Last Jedi Releases In December

Posted on November 3, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Star Wars Battlefront II isn’t out for another two weeks but thanks to a quote from Blake J. Jorgenson ( E.VP and Chief Financial Officer at Electronic Artes) during a recent inventors call, we now know that the publisher may offer some form of discount to tie into the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Retailers dropping the price on AAA titles during the rush of pre-Christmas shopping is increasingly common, especially with things like Black Friday. Electronic Arts itself has a history of discounting their popular titles: last year Titanfall 2 could be found for under $40CDN during EA’s own Origin Holiday Sale last year. Two years ago, when The Force Awakens released, the original Battlefront was discounted to $40 USD during the launch week of the film.

Here’s the full quote from Blake Jorgenson:

“We will most likely discount the game like we did last time around the movie launch, and maybe you’ll even see some selective discounts around the holidays, either Thanksgiving or Christmas. That’s the way the games business always has worked. And so if you see the title on discount, don’t read anything into that other than the fact that that’s the way you sell games in the holidays.”

Will you pick up Star Wars Battlefront II on release day, November 17th, or wait for the holiday discounts a few short weeks later?

MGS V: Ground Zeroes Discounted To $20

Posted on October 30, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Has the price for MGS V: Ground Zeroes kept you waiting for a discount? Just in time for Halloween, Konami has announced that all digital and physical copies of Ground Zeroes will be reduced to $19.99! Considering the game originally retailed for $39.99 USD for physical copies (or $44.99 if you live in the great white north) this new price point might be more appealing.

When we reviewed the game this past April we praised the brand new mechanics on display as well as the impressive graphics. The main story mission is rather short, clocking in at around 2 hours in length, but the extra missions do add some re-playability to Ground Zereos. If you’re looking to get a taste of MGS V before The Phantom Pain drops next year there is no other way to do it.

Full PR text after the jump.

The 2013 Steam Summer Sale Has Begun!

Posted on July 11, 2013 by Les Major

It’s official! After a heavy load of visitors brought the store to a halt, it’s now somewhat working with occasional heavy load messages. Today’s big sale? Bioshock Infinite at 50% off! Scribblenauts Unlimited, which we’ve reviewed and we’re very much fans of is on for a meer $4.99! Current flash sales include Counter Strike: Global Offense for just over $5, Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition for $8.99 (A fantastic game if you haven’t already gotten into it), GRID 2 and Skyrim: Legendary Edition top out the current sales featured every eight hours.

Things do seem a bit rough, even for the wishlist page, so at current time you may want to specifically go to the Steam page of games you’re curious about to confirm if they’re on sale or not. I know I’m eagerly checking my list.

Steam has also introduced a large focus on the recent addition of trading cards to the site. They’re virtual cards that apparently can be crafted into Steam badges. These in turn give you marketable items such as emoticons, profile backgrounds, and coupons. Cards can even be dropped in games such as Borderlands 2 it seems.
