Fans of Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman – since the 1990s animated series, will be disappointed that he will not be reprising his role as The Dark Knight in the latest game, Batman: Arkham Origins.  This report originates from South African magazine NAG, which claims that “[Warner Bros. wants] to use a new younger actor because the game features Batman in his early years”.

Batman: Arkham Origins was unveiled earlier this month and tells the story of the early days of the caped crusader, capturing his first interactions with some of his most famous rivals. Development of Origins is underway at WB’s internal Montreal studio, as opposed to RockSteady Games, which developed both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.

Kevin Conroy’s career as Batman began with 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series and continued for two decades with roles in several direct to DVD films, including the excellent series of Batman themed short stories Gotham Knight. His non-Batman related credits include roles in Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne and a spot on The Venture Bros.

Rumors and anticipation of Microsoft’s next home console will wither to a halt on May 21st. This was confirmed today by Microsoft stating ’A New Generation Revealed’ on Tuesday, May 21st at 1pm ET/10am PT/6pm GMT. The conference will stream on  Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and on Spike TV for people in US and Canada.

I’m extremely excited, eager, and not so much concerned as I am intrigued to see what Microsoft has been cooking up for us. I like how they decided to not play games with Sony (who as you know took initiative to reveal first…without showing off the actual box) and are revealing the new console on their own terms despite fanboy criticisms of lack of information for the new Xbox.

Hopefully all of these rumors of “always online” and “no second-hand games” will be addressed. I personally don’t think it will be always online, I think they will allow the option for people who don’t have a decent connection to still play games. I’m pretty sure there won’t be a ban on used games either, but the question is if they are going to find a way around it to still make money off used game sales…We will see.

The next generation starts when Microsoft says it does, and that will be on May 21st. Stay tuned!

Injustice: Gods Among Us has been out for a week, and for some, it may be too soon to start discussing downloadable content. Well, not for Ed Boon, the creative director at NetherRealm Studios, developer of Injustice. Ed has confirmed that Lobo, everyone’s favorite alien bounty hunter, will be the first character available to purchase. In addition to Lobo, three additional characters are planned, and the internet is full of speculation as to which characters will be revealed. The staff here at Broken Joysticks has cast their votes, and here are our top picks.

The fine folks over at NeocoreGames have released a new video for their upcoming RPG Dungeon Crawler game The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing. Fans of games like Torchlight and Diablo should take notice of this game because while the setting may be different, at it’s core it will be enough to please any dungeon crawling fan.

The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing willfocus on the trials of young Van Helsing, son of the legendary monster hunter. Set in a universe that closely resembles a 19th-century Eastern Europe where magic and weird technology is real, the story follows Van Helsing teaming up with his father’s ancient foes, the classic monsters to defeat the reign of the mad scientists.” – as stated from the official NeocoreGames blog.

Leading up to the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us, there has had a fantastic tournament running featuring fan votes deciding the battles. Not only that but celebrities have been in on the action as well! Definitely take a look through the games official youtube channel for all the action. We’re focusing on this tournaments final battle between Superman and Batman, as well as Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. It’s a little NSFW but then again Injustice is rated T for Teen after all. There is a more direct video on the site if you want to skip all the fun, but this really is a great feature that celebrates the release of the game. Read on for the video. (more…)

It appears that they will try. Heroes was a fantastic show the first couple of seasons when it launched. I was as religious to it as Christians going to church on Sunday. Unfortunately due to the writers strike that occurred during the time frame when Heroes was on, it badly hurt the storyline and thus lost viewers…then cancelled. A sad day indeed, as the show had great potential.

Currently in preliminary stages (in talks), it appears that Microsoft is trying to do what the writers of the show couldn’t do – that being save the cheerleader, save the world, resurrect and save the show! It’s said that the new show would be based around a whole new cast of characters and storyline with the previous characters from the original series making cameo appearances now and again. (more…)

Bethesda, for the past few days, have released some really weird teaser clips for their next game. Announced today that the full reveal will in fact be tomorrow (April 19th, 2013), we can’t wait to see what they got up their sleeve. I know I personally am looking forward to the next Fallout game, but I’d gladly welcome any new franchise that they want to put out.

The first video features a spinning record, the second features burning flowers and a mystery background person, and the latest one features a shadow creeping around…

Can anyone make any sense of these clips? Bethesda mentioned this has nothing to do with the Fallout franchise, so this must be something new yes? Rumors say that it could be the next Wolfenstien or Zwei (next game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami).

Undead Labs and Microsoft Studios have at least narrowed down the month for which the upcoming zombie survival game State Of Decay will release. June. I’m not sure if they are pushing for this to be in the yearly held Microsoft “Summer Of Arcade”, but it could be quite possible. To go along with the tentative release date, Undead Labs has also released a new video for State Of Decay… (more…)
