Conception II Coming to PS Vita and 3DS this Spring

Posted on December 17, 2013 by Jason Nason

Atlus revealed a special collector’s edition of their upcoming RPG title Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars today. The special edition will come packed with not only the game but also the soundtrack to the game.

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars is a unique dungeon-exploring RPG with school-life elements. In the world called Aterra where the Star God is worshiped, monsters have begun to spawn from the mysterious labyrinth. However, the Star God has imbued certain young adults – Disciples – with the power to fight monsters, as well as create Star Children to aid in the battle. Only Disciples and Star Children can defeat the monsters, and you, as God’s Gift, have an additional weighty task: to bond with seven other Disciples and bear many Star Children to help your world survive!

The game is set to come out Spring 2014, though Amazon.com has the game listed for a release on April 8th.

The Legitimacy Of Youtubers

Posted on December 16, 2013 by Eric Bastelak

Tragedy, it is the only word to describe what has happened to the internet over the past week. You Tube’s recent policy changes when it comes to copyright claims are quite literally destroying lives. People like to scoff say I’m being melodramatic which, unfortunately is a far more terrifying revelation. We as gamers and lovers of a medium are turning on those who have brought legitimacy to our medium. Why have we done such a thing? That is what I truly don’t understand. What drives people to tell e-sports competitors or online personalities to get a real job? If that is how we as a community are going to behave then we have proven that gaming does not deserve legitimacy or acclaim.Read More

Shoot Many Robots Free, Via Games With Gold

Posted on December 16, 2013 by Joshua Rust

For the first part of December, Gears of War was free to Gold Members on Xbox Live via the Games with Gold program that Microsoft started this year. This only lasted for the first half of December, as with previous months, and now it is the 16th so the next free game of the month is now available for Gold Members to download – this game would be the four-player co-op XBLA game Shoot Many Robots. It will be available to download for free from today until December 31st.

The Witch and the Hundred Knights Dated For The West

Posted on December 14, 2013 by Les Major

Unlike previously reported by me last year, the west will be getting The Witch and the Hundred Nights this coming March in 2014. It seems I was a bit over excited before and confused the Japanese release date with the western one. To my understanding, the game has never been delayed. The game which was released in Japan this past summer is a PS3 title. Focusing on marsh witch Metallia and her hundred knights she can summon, Kotaku compared the gameplay to the likes of classic Zelda adventures from the NES and SNES era. However you’ll be using combos and special attacks, leveling up, and many fun things we’ve come to love about NIS games.

NIS has tried many different gameplay concepts from tactical in the past in it’s classic tactical Disgaea setup to the roguelike adventure found in Z.H.P. and The Guided Fate Paradox. The Witch and the Hundred Knights seems to be quite different than their other top down games such as ClaDun X2 and Legasista however. I haven’t had any hands on time yet, so I’m not positive about how damage occurs in relation to those two action titles, but the areas are seemingly an actual world to explore rather than random dungeons.

We’ll definitely be keeping up to date on this title and looking forward to the upcoming release.

National Streetpass Weekend Starts a Day Early

Posted on December 13, 2013 by Jason Nason

If you have a Nintendo 3DS you likely already know what StreetPass is, but here’s a brief explanation. Basically if you carry your Nintendo 3DS around with you, either active or in sleep mode, you can receive Mii information as well as game data from others around you who are doing the same thing. If you both share the same title installed on your system you will automatically share data, special items and more.

But you have to have StreetPass enabled. Nintendo has a little explanation no how to do that on their website. Trust me; it’s simple.

At Nintendo Zone locations around Canada (mostly McDonald’s, Future Shops and Best Buys) you can also collect Miis and other data. Recently Nintendo added a delay feature to Nintendo Zones so that the last person who visited a location would pop up on your system and your Mii would pop up on the next person’s system. Now with this new special weekend event you could get a Mii visitor from another region of the world.

Check into a Nintendo Zone location in the U.S. or Canada on December 14 and 15 (it was announced that via Miiverse that Nintendo bumped the start to today!), you’ll be able to StreetPass with people from around the country. Up until now I have Miis from Canada (and one special Nintendo Mii from Japan), but I could possibly now get up to six Miis at once from multiple regions!

Second Dimension: The Warrior’s Code Interview

Posted on December 13, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

The fighting game community (FGC) has grown from holding local events to smaller venues to occupying ballrooms at four-star establishments with talent from all across the globe attending. Major sponsors such as Capcom, Namco Bandai, and others are responsible for the development of some of the world’s most famous franchises in gaming, and are showcased at a central tournament featuring the top fighting talent from across the world. With major prize pools, fighting games are now reaching a platform that can be compared to traditional eSports.

Each week, I’ll be posting interviews I’ve had the pleasure of conducting with members of the fighting game community. The interviews will touch upon their history in the FGC, where they got their start, and what they’d like to see from video games in general.

With school winning the matchup against me, this week’s SD:TWC is brought to you by my fellow PandaxGaming teammate Bitpix and this week he sat down with probably Mexico’s greatest El Fuerte player: Jose Carlos Sanchez AKA DS GordoRLZ. The interview will be bilingual so enjoy!Read More

Some users have been posting about issues connecting to the Nintendo’s 3DS eShop following yesterday’s 3DS update, which added Miiverse and Nintendo Network IDs to the portable gaming device. The issue was also posted by Game Informer and was also experienced with us here as well.

Last night immeditely after the update I signed up for a Nintendo Network ID and had no issues getting into the eShop. My previous balance carried over to my new NNid without difficulty.

This afternoon howerver I received the following error message when trying to access the eShop:

Pokémon Visual Companion To The TV Show Available Today

Posted on December 10, 2013 by Les Major

Released today, BradyGames has compiled a wonderful companion to the Pokémon TV series. Sure, you’re probably thinking, you’ve got the internet so why do you need this book. It’s actually quite a great collection that focuses on events of the show making for an enjoyable book of memories. The book takes a broad view to show what the world of Pokémon from the start to Black and White is like in the TV series instead of being an episode by episode guide. This is more of a generalized guide that fills you in on characters, some past events, and the Pokémon of the various regions.

Considering it’s quite a lengthy hard cover book, and in general feels like a fan guide rather than a kids book, it’s quite a steal for just over $10 currently on Amazon. For those of us who have been into the series all these years, this is quite a treat!

Progress Of The Starbound Beta

Posted on December 10, 2013 by Les Major

Chucklefish, the developer behind the recent Terraria-like space adventure, has kept beta players going with lots of fast and furious updates. They’ve actually apologized for a slow update progress, which is surprising since they only released the beta on December 4th and this is already the second patch sent out today. Perhaps there was mention of an update sooner on their forums or such.

So far Starbound has been lots of fun! Unlike Terraria, you planet hop in your space ship you can beam up to from each planets surface. Things such as coal and wood can power your ships fuel up, allowing you to go out into a star chart and pick what planet you want to visit next. Also, planets are looping environments, so there’s no massive ocean blocking off either side of the map. Read on for Read More
