Gamestop CEO Says ‘Xbox 720’ Is HOT!

Posted on April 3, 2013 by Joshua Rust

And no, we don’t mean Red Ring Of Death hot either.  According to GameIndustry, who spoke with the Gamestop CEO over a earnings call, the retailer has been hand in hand with Microsoft and their unannounced next-gen console.

J. Paul Raines, the aforementioned CEO, had lots of positive things to say about Microsoft’s next console. Which is certainly great news for us as consumers. Especially regarding the “no used games” rumors that have set the gaming community on fire. I have my own thoughts on that as well if you care to take a gander. But to me this means that the no used games is out of the picture seeing how used games is a fair percentage of how Gamestop makes their money. If there happened to be that kind of software on the NextBox, I don’t see the CEO of Gamestop being to thrilled about it.Read More

Second Dimension: The Warrior’s Code Interview

Posted on April 2, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

The fighting game community (FGC) has grown from holding local events at smaller venues to occupying ballrooms at four-star establishments with talent from all across the globe attending. Major sponsors such as Capcom, Namco Bandai, and others are responsible for the development of some of the world’s most famous franchises in gaming, and are showcased at a central tournament featuring the top fighting talent from across the world. With major prize pools, fighting games are now reaching a platform that can be compared to traditional eSports.

Every week, I’ll be posting interviews I’ve had the pleasure of conducting with members of the fighting game community. The interviews will touch upon their history in the FGC, where they got their start, and what they’d like to see from video games in general.

This weeks guest is a man I recently had the pleasure of meeting: Hendrick Pilar aka MH | DJ Nintendo.Read More

God of War: Ascension | Review

Posted on April 2, 2013 by Jason Fayta

Kratos, the ever affable hero hell-bent on murdering every creature and god from Greek mythology, returns to ascend to new levels of brutality in God of War: Ascension, the second God of War installment on the PlayStation 3, after the 2010 release of God of War III. Serving as a prequel for the entire series, the story in God of War: Ascension predates the events found in the PSP title, God of War: Chains of Olympus.

A brief prologue introduces the Primordials, beings who antecede both the Titans and Mount Olympus; they created the Earth by throwing down, Supreme Being style. The war amongst them also spawned the Furies, guardians who capture and torture those they deem guilty–a lot in life they seemingly much enjoy.Read More

Microsoft’s April Fool’s Day Sale Is No Joke

Posted on April 1, 2013 by Joshua Rust

For today and today only, yes on April Fool’s Day, Microsoft is offering a pretty nice price cut on some DLC, Season Passes, and a Games On Demand game. Normally, I really hate even posting news on April Fool’s Day because I don’t get into that kind of thing but this is legit and you need to act now as these savings only last today. Ranging from Assassin’s Creed 3, Fallout 3, Battlefield, Dishonored, & The Amazing Spider-Man, there is just about something for everyone.

Granted it’s not a huge sale, but if you’ve been holding out on that Assassin’s Creed 3 Season Pass…now is the time to act!Read More

Posted on April 1, 2013 by Les Major

Update: Not that this one wasn’t obvious, but this was an April Fools joke. Fantasy worlds will eventually develop fast food franchises however. Just imagine the menus!

There’s no inquisition in the new Dragon Age game. However, there are dragons that the world just has nothing to do with. So what does a medieval fantasy world do with so much meat? Open a Quiznos of course! In Dragon Age 3 gamers will experience the thrill of owning their own franchise and serving up a bevvy of tasty treats to the games various characters! Now with the new Frostbite 3 engine you’ll be able to see your sandwich creations in stunning realisim! The world may always feel like it’s ending outside, but inside there’s a different meaning when we relate dragons to the words “Mmmm… Toasty!”
